Phantasmal Flames is the latest expansion of the Pokemon TCG, arriving on November 14, 2025. This expansion is primarily based on the Inferno X expansion released in Japan, but also includes a bunch of cards from other sets as well. As the second global expansion of the Mega Evolution TCG, naturally, there are several new Mega Evolution cards for you to chase after.

Phantasmal Flames will officially release worldwide on November 14, 2025. However, for those interested in trying it out, there is a Mega Evolution-Phantasmal Flames Build & Battle Box on sale right now. You can get the following promo cards from these Battles Boxes:

  • Ceruledge
  • Zacian
  • Flygon
  • Toxtricity

There are six new Mega Evolution Pokemon for you to collect by opening Phantasmal Flames booster packs:

  • Mega Heracross ex
  • Mega Charizard X ex
  • Mega Diancie ex
  • Mega Gengar ex
  • Mega Sharpedo ex
  • Mega Lopunny ex

All of them have seen some use in Japan’s City Leagues. However, Mega Diancie ex and Mega Sharpedo ex appear to be the Mega Evolution Pokemon cards that seem most likely to leave an impact on the meta. Mega Diancie ex has become a staple of Gardevoir ex decks in Japan, which is just another tool in the box for an already powerful deck archetype.

However, Mega Sharpedo ex has a bunch of support cards in this expansion, like Toxtricity and Seviper. This gives this card and its allies a decent chance to be a disruptive force in the meta, as Darkness-type cards are useful to counter the terror of Gardevoir ex.
