Journey To Poppy Playtime Co. Factory’s Subterranean Levels
The Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 starts with you exploring the caves as you separate with Poppy as she goes to find Kissy Missy. Eventually, you will reach the underground prison where you will encounter the Doctor, a digital manifestation of Dr. Harley Sawyer, a former scientist at the facility.
The Doctor subjects you to various inhumane tests before you find help from a clay-like ally named Doey, the Doughman. You and your new friend then make your way out of the prison while being chased by the Doctor’s lion-like pet, Yarnaby. Eventually, you will make your way to the Sage Haven, a sanctuary for surviving toys.
Alliances and Betrayals
Within the Safe Haven, you reunite with Poppy and an injured Kissy Missy. It is here that Poppy reveals that the children are alive but Prototype is keeping them captive in their lair. She then proposes a plan to rescue these children and get rid of the Prototype once and for all by setting up explosives in the factory’s foundation.
Your role in Poppy’s elaborate plan is to confront the Doctor and retrieve his Omni-Hand that allows you to gain access to the factory’s systems. With the help of Doey, you were able to defeat Yarnaby this time and secure the device before returning to the Safe Haven. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan.
The Prototype’s Deception
As you progress in retrieving the Omni-Hand, you and Doey encounter a shocking revelation upon reaching the Safe Haven. Someone relocates the explosives intended for the Prototype’s lair to the Safe Haven, causing the deaths of its inhabitants.
Overcome with grief and anger, Doey blames you for this unfortunate event and transforms into a monstrous entity. A climactic battle then ensues, culminating in Doey’s defeat. Following this event, you then reunite with Poppy and Kissy Missy once again, where you find out how the Prototype was always one step ahead.
As Poppy contacts Ollie, one of his most trusted friends, the group discovers that the Prototype has been impersonating Ollie all along to manipulate events behind the scenes. Poppy panics upon hearing this revelation as the Prototype intimidates the group. Fearing re-imprisonment, she flees, abandoning the player and Kissy Missy before an explosion erupts. Kissy Missy tries to save the player but loses an arm in the process, and a pile of rubble separates the two of you.
An Old “Friend” Returns
As you make your way out of your predicament, you get stuck in an underground lab. You eventually pass out while being trapped in a supposedly gas chamber while Huggy Wuggy tries to break down the door before Chapter 4 ends. Your last encounter with Huggy Wuggy was back in Chapter 3, where he fell deep down in the factory.
Poppy Playtime Chapter Ending Explained
Ollie being the Prototype all along was not a surprise, especially in the Poppy Playtime community. The theory of Ollie being fake has been circulating online. It is also too convenient that every time Ollie is part of the narrative, your plans do not seem to go as you want, hinting at someone knowing your next move. Take the plan of fixing the generator, which ultimately leads to Safe Haven’s destruction. However, we still cannot rule out the possibility of a real Ollie existing and truly being a friend to Poppy before Prototype was impersonating them.
A lot of people are angry at Poppy for betraying the group in Chapter 4. However, we cannot entirely blame her. If we try to justify her actions, it may be due to the trauma from the Prototype’s experimentation and being stuck on a glass case for a long time. The overwhelming fear of being taken away again likely drove her decision. After all, she is still just a kid. She might not be an adult with a stronger mental state.
Another big revelation is the confirmation that Huggy Wuggy is still alive. One of the interesting out-of-bounds discoveries from the Poppy Playtime community is that someone in the factory patched up Huggy Wuggy’s wounds after the fall. No one knows who it might be—some say it is the Doctor while others theorize it could be the Prototype. However, we may not know until Chapter 5 comes.
