This guide explains whether you can play in first-person mode in Revenge of the Savage Planet. Is the game always in third person?
Revenge of the Savage Planet does not let you play in first-person perspective. For now, you have to play the entire game in third person. And a sizable section of the game’s player base isn’t too happy about it.
The game’s predecessor, Journey to the Savage Planet, was exclusively in first person. Fans of the series expected the same to be true for the sequel as well. However, that isn’t the case, and you can only play in the third person. However, a recent Reddit post by one of the developers might suggest that a first-person mode could become available for the game in the future.
Why Is There No First-Person Mode in Revenge of the Savage Planet?
Alex Hutchinson, a creative director at Raccoon Logic Studios, said in an interview that the game is in third person because the developers wanted the player to be able to see when they were on fire or when they were slipping. Also, he explained that for the platforming sections, it’s crucial for players to be able to see their feet, which wouldn’t be possible in first person. Basically, the developers felt that first-person mode wouldn’t provide as much visual clarity to players as switching to third person would.
While exploration is a treat in the third person, players report that combat can feel a bit clumsy. Also, scanning the different flora and fauna across the planets could have felt much more engaging in the first person.

Will There Be a First-Person Mode in Revenge of the Savage Planet in the Future?
While the developers were quite adamant about the game locking players in the third person perspective earlier, recent backlash from fans seems to have shifted things within Raccoon Logic Studios. In a recent Reddit thread, one of the developers clarified that they are considering a first-person mode after taking into account player feedback. So, if you want to play the game in first person, there may still be hope.
However, without any official confirmation, we can’t say for certain when or if such an update would reach the game. For now, though, you won’t be able to switch between third-person and first-person perspectives.
