After months of not receiving any updates, Rockstar Games announced an upcoming free massive upgrade for GTA 5 Online. The update aims to align the PC version with the enhancements that were previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This means you can enjoy a plethora of new features and technical improvements once the free upgrade goes live, including the Criminal Career Builder, which allows new players to choose between four paths to jumpstart their gameplay.

Release Date for the Free GTA 5 Online PC Upgrade
The upcoming free update for GTA 5 Online will arrive on March 4, 2025. Additionally, PC players can now purchase a GTA+ membership. This monthly subscription gives access to unique perks like exclusive vehicles, weapons, discounts, and many more.

Advanced Graphics Enhancements
The update is said to introduce a PC-exclusive ray tracing technology. This includes ambient occlusion and global illumination, providing more realistic lighting and shadows. Additionally, the update will also include support for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) versions 1 and 3, as well as NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 3. These will enable higher frame rates and improved visual fidelity.
Ambient Animals
The open world of GTA Online will no longer be filled with only vehicles, NPCs, and other players. Rockstar Games will add natural wildlife across Southern San Andreas. You can even participate in a collectible hunt called Wildlife Photography Challenge where you take pictures of animals for new rewards.
Improved Performance
The new graphics enhancement could demand more resources for your PC. This is why Rockstar Games has also included a few tweaks to help players get the most out of their system.
The GTA 5 Online update features faster loading times facilitated by SSD and DirectStorage support on compatible systems. Additionally, you can set higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and faster frame rates to enhance the gaming experience.

Enhanced Audio and Controller Support
Another feature in the upcoming update is Dolby Atmos support, providing a more immersive audio experience for enthusiasts. Furthermore, players using Sony’s DualSense controllers will benefit from adaptive trigger functionality, adding a tactile dimension to gameplay.
Hao’s Special Works Auto Shop
The upcoming update for GTA 5 Online also includes Hao’s Special Works auto shop. Found inside the LS Car Meet, this auto shop allows you to upgrade supported vehicles with unique upgrades that were previously only exclusive to console players.
New Vehicles and Upgrades
Five new vehicles will also be added to the game:
- Coil Cyclone II (Super)
- Imponte Arbiter GT (Muscle)
- Karin S95 (Sports)
- Pegassi Weaponized Ignus (Super)
- Pfister Astron Custom (SUV)
Additionally, a selection of premium vehicles will soon be upgradable through Hao’s Special Works.
Career Builder Now on PC
The Career Builder is one of the unique features that are exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players. However, with the upcoming update, this feature will be added to the PC, allowing you to kickstart your life in Los Santos. Initially, you start with $4 million in-game cash. The money will then be used to purchase businesses, properties, and vehicles, based on the path you choose. The options are Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, or Biker. If you don’t choose, you get the full money with you when you start the game.
GTA+ Membership Now Available for PC
The GTA Plus membership will now be available to all PC players to purchase. This monthly subscription offers exclusive in-game benefits like increased mission and game mode rewards, in-game discounts, free items, and more.
