The biggest update of Schedule 1 is finally here. Gone are the days when you merely produced, packaged, and distributed questionable substances in the city of Hyland Point. Now, the game presents you with some competition.

However, if you fire up the game, you will find that it is still in v0.3.6, and the latest feature there is the Off-road Skateboard. In this article, we will discuss how you can join the Open Beta v0.4.0 of Schedule 1.

First, a word of warning: Do not play your existing save file, meaning the file where you have progressed through the game and built your empire, in the Beta version. There is a reason this is the “Beta version” and not the “Stable version.” This is still not a stable update of the game, and you will see inconsistencies as you play.

As cumbersome as it may be, you must create a brand-new save game to indulge in the v0.4.0 Open Beta of Schedule 1.

If you see any discrepancies, such as the one shown in the picture, you can report them on the official Discord channel of the game.

Now that the cautionary words are out of the way, let us discuss how you can join the v0.4.0 Open Beta. The following are the steps:

  1. Open and log in to Steam.
  2. Go to your game library and locate Schedule 1. Your library should be in alphabetical order, so scroll down to the S section.
  3. Right-click on the game and select “Properties.”
  4. You will be able to access the “Betas” tab from the left of the new window that has popped up.
  5. From the “Beta Participation” drop-down menu, select “beta – Hosts the beta versions of Schedule I.”
  6. Close the window.

Some additional downloads will begin. After that, Schedule 1 will be shown as “Schedule I [beta]” in the game library. After launching the game, you will see that the main menu also shows “Beta” and “v0.4.0.”

The Open Beta v0.4.0 will end on August 15, 2025. Although TVGS has not revealed an exact date, the full version will be released soon after the developers have worked on the rough edges of the update.

To play the stable version of the game, revert to “None” in the “Beta Participation” tab. If you want to access your main saved file, be sure to follow this process. You must do this once the full version, v0.4.1, is available as well.

As mentioned, opening your existing saved file may corrupt it entirely and make it unplayable in the full version of this update when it is released. So, open a new saved file, skip the tutorial, and work your way through the ranks to enjoy the latest features of this beloved game. Unfortunately, the game is still not available on consoles, so Steam is the only way to enjoy the Open Beta v0.4.0.
