Choosing to help Minrathous or Treviso will be a challenging decision in The Veilguard. However, it is your priority that should be the deciding factor.
When playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will face difficult choices like whether to help Minrathous or Treviso. This can be a confusing choice to make because of the heavy consequences it has in the game moving forward.
A pre-requisite for this choice is that you complete A Warden’s Best Friend quest in Chapter 6. After completion, you will eventually be faced with the choice of either defending Minrathous or Treviso because both towns are being attacked by a blight dragon at the same time.
Before making any choice, however, make sure that you have completed all side quests for each faction or companion residing in the region you are about to abandon to the blight dragon. Otherwise, all the untouched quests in that region will automatically fail. If the quests will become available after a certain story mission, then don’t bother about them right now. With that said, let’s make an informed decision based on what we already know.
The Decision of Helping Minrathous or Treviso Can Either be Devastating or Rewarding
No matter which town you choose to help, the other will get destroyed. Your options are to either help Lucanis and the Crows protect Treviso civilians or help Neve and the Shadows prevent the Venatori coup in Minrathous.
If you choose to side with Lucanis, Minrathous (dock town) will get destroyed, and unfortunately, you won’t be able to level up the Shadow Dragons further. Moreover, it will trigger a timeline for some extra casualties to happen.
Choosing to help Neve instead will save Minrathous. Additionally, there will be no extra casualties by the end and you can still level up the Antivan Crows just the same. Check out our full guide on how to make the right decisions for the best ending in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Consequences of Helping Either Minrathous or Treviso
No matter what decision you take, consequences will follow you around. Some will be good while others won’t be so desirable. One is that the companions you are not partying up for this quest will be unavailable in the story for a bit. So, if you choose to help Lucanis, Neve will be unavailable, and if you help Neve, Lucanis won’t be there for you until you progress a little further into the story.
Later in the story, when the abandoned companion returns, they will be Hardened. This means that they won’t use their support/healing ability anymore. They will also be slightly harder to romance after this point in the story. However, they will gain a few passive perks to deal higher damage with their offensive skills in fights.
There will also be a significant decrease in a faction’s strength. If you abandon the Crows, their strength will reduce by 100. The Shadows will lose 250 faction strength if you don’t save Minrathous. You can see which one has the worst fate.
Lastly, there will be changes in the Blighted city. The Venatori coup will overrun Minrathous if you don’t save it beforehand and Viper, the commander, will be under Blight effect. As for Treviso, you will see Chance and other Antivan Crows getting affected by the Blight if you don’t save the town.
But since these consequences are inevitable in both cases, Minrathous seems like the best option to choose if you wish the best for Rook and his companions.
