Find out the best way to play ‘A Serpentine Path’ mission in Split Fiction. Our walkthrough makes it easier to cross this Chapter 5 section.

Chapter 5 of Split Fiction begins with a fantasy story created by Zoe, and the very first mission is “A Serpentine Path.” If you want some help navigating this chapter, the following detailed guide will help you understand how you can progress. We’ll also discover how the “A Serpentine Path” mission in Split Fiction begins to give you some context if you haven’t progressed that far into the game’s story.
How To Begin a Serpentine Path Mission in Split Fiction

You are both transported to a fantasy world that Zoe creates. She explains during the cutscene that the story is inspired by her and her twin sister Ella’s upbringing. Then, each of you will get a dragon egg to care for during the entire chapter. Apart from protecting them, the dragon eggs are also key to solving many of the puzzles in the level. These are apparently the last two dragon eggs in the world, and only Zoe and Mia can save the creatures from undergoing total extinction. This is exactly where the “A Serpentine Path” mission begins.

As soon as you take control of the characters, start going down the path, and you’ll arrive at a cliff. You’ll need to use the grapple hook to move forward and jump to the different platforms until you finally reach the first puzzle of this area.
You will see two dragon statues and two pedestals facing them. One of you needs to place the dragon egg onto one of the dragon’s pedestals. This will raise its right wing. Let the other player (who still has a dragon egg) jump on this wing and cross over to the other platform. There, they can place their dragon egg to allow the first player to cross over the gap.
Next, you’ll find another dragon statue with two pedestals in front of it. Placing a dragon egg on the right pedestal will help raise the stone dragon’s wings. Placing an egg on the left pedestal will rotate the statue. You will need to coordinate with the player so that the statue’s wings act as a bridge between this platform and the next one, allowing you to cross. Taking the egg out of the left pedestal will stop the dragon from rotating further. The player whose egg is on the right pedestal will stay back. The other player will cross over and place their dragon egg on the pedestal there to ensure the dragon wings stay up. This will allow both to move forward.

The next dragon statue puzzle involves a crucial bit of timing from you and your co-op partner. Both of you will need to grapple onto the statue’s wings at the same time. If the timing is wrong, the one going first will plunge to their death.
After this section, you come to an oversized bird’s nest with a door. Place both your eggs on the pedestals to open this door. You’ll soon come face to face with a huge golden egg that supposedly hatched the mother of all dragons. Continue to your right from this area, and soon a cutscene will begin playing. Zoe and Mio will find the Megalith, the big bad of this level.

A side-scrolling section follows where you need to move to your left while crossing through platforming challenges to escape the villain. Then, you’ll find the Water Temple. You have to solve a puzzle here to gain entrance into the temple. The area has four pedestals, and you will need to place your dragon eggs in these pedestals in a certain order. This is how you can complete the challenge:
- Step 1: The first player has to activate the pulse. To do this, they should place the egg on the pedestal that lies first upon entry into this section. While the pulse is being activated, the second player has to activate the first pedestal.
- Step 2: After activating the pulse, the first player should immediately dash toward the third pedestal.
- Step 3: As the pulse passes the first pedestal, the second player must quickly make their way to the fourth pedestal and place their egg on this pedestal as the pulse nears it. At the same time, the first player also needs to place their egg on this final pedestal.
For every pedestal, you should try placing the dragon egg around a second or two before the pulse arrives. This will ensure that the momentum continues all the way to the snake’s head.
If you’ve managed to do this correctly, the large gold egg will shatter. You can use the shattered pieces of the egg to reach the next section. Finally, you enter the Water Temple, where the dragon eggs hatch, giving birth to two lovely dragonlings.
