Chapter 4 of Split Fiction is dubbed Final Dawn and takes place in Mio’s sci-fi setting. Like all other chapters in the game, this chapter is also broken down into several sections or missions. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the penultimate section of this chapter—The Escape.
How To Begin The Escape Mission in Split Fiction
At the end of the previous section, Soaring Desperados, Zoe and Mio will have to take off their jetpacks to proceed. They will then enter a room with two terminals, and each of them will need to interact with one of the terminals to end this section. After that, the elevator will start moving up, and when it comes to a halt, you will need to climb up a set of stairs.
As you climb up, though, you’ll notice a huge creature imprisoned in a glass shell. Interact with the terminals at the end of the section where the creature is, and a cutscene will begin. This will officially begin The Escape section of the game.

The Escape Walkthrough
The cutscene reveals that the source of the Mechs’ power is the octopus-like creature in the room. They use its blood to power their weapons. The trapped creature and the blood used to power the enemies are a metaphor based on Mio’s dad and his cancer. The cutscene ends with Zoe and Mio shooting off the restraints and releasing the giant creature back into the water. The two of them grab jet skis and dive into the water themselves.
You’ll need to follow the giant octopus creature through the water. Along the way, there will be various obstacles that you must avoid. You can dive underneath the water to avoid them. It’s a pretty straightforward section that ends when you reach open waters and jump out of the story through a portal.
This will trigger the last section of Chapter 4 in Split Fiction, dubbed System Fail Safe Mode.
