Mr. Hammer is a boss you fight during the Play Me Techno mission of Chapter 2 (Neon Revenge) in Split Fiction. In this chapter, you go through a futuristic sci-fi city where Mio gets a cool cyberkatana, and Zoe uses an electric whip with gravity-controlling abilities.

You must utilize both of these special abilities to defeat Mr. Hammer, the first proper boss fight in this chapter. To help you beat Mr. Hammer, this guide explains all his attacks and how you can defeat this multi-phased boss in Split Fiction.

Mr. Hammer is a big brute who wields a large hammer. He has various melee and ranged attacks that he uses in all three of his phases. He also has a jetpack, which allows him to hover over the arena and use his ranged attacks from the air. Like every other fight, you can only take two hits before death. You do respawn, but it can take a bit of time. Also, do not fall off the side of the arena, as it results in instant death.

As the fight begins, he first shoots at the characters with a helix beam, which has quite a large range. Players are advised to stay far away from each other at the beginning of the fight to avoid taking damage together. Once Mr. Hammer is done firing the helix beams, he lobs his hammer onto the arena, creating a huge electrical shockwave. It is quite easy to jump over if timed correctly.

Once you dodge the shockwave, you can see the hammer glowing purple on the floor. This is where Mio has to attack the hammer with her katana. The hammer has its own health bar, which Mio needs to deplete to make it usable. While hitting the hammer, dodge the soundwave attacks that Mr. Hammer can spam while in the air.

Once the health bar of the hammer depletes, Zoe has to use her gravity whip to pick it up and hit Mr. Hammer, who will be hovering in the air. Hitting Mr. Hammer brings him down to the ground, allowing both players to dish out damage using the katana and the hammer. After taking his HP down a bit, the hammer goes back into his hands. Repeat this until his HP drops to 50%.

Once you have taken his HP down to 50%, a cutscene starts, and he unleashes a pack of mechanical dogs onto the players. Mio can use her katana to slash away, while Zoe can pick the dogs up and throw them at other dogs. Sometimes, the dogs can pin a player down, requiring the player to smash the button shown on the screen to free themselves. Failing to do so results in death. Once the dogs are taken care of, Mr. Hammer enters his second phase.

This phase is similar to the first phase, where you need to use his hammer to bring him down and deal damage, but there are two new attacks Mr. Hammer performs in this phase. One is when he lands on the ground and wildly swings his hammer a couple of times at a player while moving toward them. Try to maintain some distance from him while he is on the ground.

The other addition is when he lobs his hammer on the ground; this time, the hammer itself can fight back and swing at Mio when she tries to slash it. Mr. Hammer still uses the soundwave attack in his hammerless mode, making it quite difficult to attack the hammer. Continue whittling Mr. Hammer’s HP down to a quarter, where he enters his final phase.

In his final phase, Mr. Hammer gets serious and uses his ultimate attack, which he calls Thunderstruck. Mr. Hammer rises high into the air and shoots out strands of electricity that connect to the ground and erratically move around. This goes on for about 10–12 seconds before stopping. The only way to dodge this attack is to be careful and keep running. Mr. Hammer then lobs his hammer once Thunderstruck is over.

This time, the hammer gets more aggressive and charges at players near it. This can knock players into the soundwaves that Mr. Hammer shoots from the air. To avoid this attack, keep a lookout for the hammer to start spinning before charging.

Keep avoiding Mr. Hammer’s attacks and damage him the same way as from the start of the fight. Once his HP depletes, a cutscene starts where Mio and Zoe defeat Mr. Hammer by throwing him off the building. This concludes the boss fight, and both players can move on to the next stage.
