Explore Vindictus Defying Fate’s alpha demo, featuring four characters, mission-based gameplay, co-op combat, and detailed progression.
Nexon released the alpha demo for Vindictus Defying Fate on June 9, 2025. The demo introduces players to an awe-inspiring fantasy world, combining hack-and-slash and fluid Soulslike combat mechanics. Despite being a demo, the alpha has plenty for you to discover before it is taken offline.

Four Playable Characters
There are four characters you can switch between and progress in the demo.
- Lann is the fast-attacking dual-wielder.
- Fiona is a balanced combatant with a longsword and shield.
- The half-giant Karok fights using an uprooted pillar.
- Delia carves wide arcs across the battlefield with her greatsword.
Each character has four unique skills to unlock and use during battle. Ability points can be spent on the exclusive ability tree to increase their combat effectiveness.
Map Areas
- Colhen: Hub town
- Northern Ruins: First Level
- Hoarfrost Hollow: Second Level
After choosing one of four characters, the demo jumps right into the starting town of Colhen, skipping the prologue. Upon joining the mercenaries and beginning the first mission, you enter the Northern Ruins. Complete the level and progress the story to unlock the much tougher Hoarfrost Hollow area. Both areas have challenging bosses to fight and overcome.

Daily Missions and Challenge Missions
Daily missions offer monster-hunting assignments in the available regions. Challenge missions are available once per Kalbram Supplies event and have objectives beyond combat.
Co-op
The demo has limited co-op with up to four players in combat. You can see other players in the hub by turning on the “Display Players in Village” option in settings. You can also join up to four players in a special mission, which usually involves fighting a powerful boss.
Weapons Crafting and Enhancement
You can enhance existing weapons to improve their stats and craft new ones by acquiring their blueprint. Crafted weapons are exclusive to their respective character and may also provide a secondary weapon that can be equipped in tandem with the primary. Visit the blacksmith in the hub town to begin crafting and enhancing weapons.
Character Customization
Vindictus Defying Fate has plentiful character customization options that can be accessed via the Fitting Room in the town. Besides equipping new outfits and weapons, you can also dye existing outfits.
Companions
You can take an NPC companion from the town into battle. These followers provide combat support while clearing out levels and keep you company. They also gain experience like the player character, and switching to them will retain the experience.
