Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is bringing a brand new story to the already existing chronology of the films. The last Indy film was a year ago. The fourth and fifth installments in the movie franchise were also released after a long gap. Now, everybody’s beloved explorer is returning to the gaming industry with a bang.

Indy has been the main character in video games before, but MachineGames’ latest project appears to be ambitious, even for Indiana Jones fans. The game is confirmed to be set in the year 1937. We already know that it will follow a brand-new story, and it will be canon to the Harrison Ford movies’ timeline.

If you are looking to jump into, or jog your memory of the original Indiana Jones trilogy, we recommend you watch these moves in this specific order:

  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

These movies are set in the years 1935, 1936, and 1938, respectively. Yes, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was actually a prequel. With that out of the way, we can see that MachineGames’ latest Indy adventure, the Great Circle, is chronologically placed somewhere between the Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade.

This can give way to some cool cameos and foreshadowing of the upcoming events and/or games. Needless to say, the writers have the perfect opportunity to keep Indiana Jones fans on the edge of their seats with this chronological arrangement.

Will the Great Circle Have the Same Actors for the Voice Cast?

In the movies, fans saw Harrison Ford take on the mantle to play Indiana Jones. His portrayal of the character popularized it, making way for a new fanbase. Unfortunately, the 82-year-old Hollywood hero won’t be voicing the main character in the Great Circle. However, things aren’t half bad.

Troy Baker, the fabulous voice actor, is known for various roles in animated films and video games. Long-term gaming fans may remember him by his iconic voice portrayal of Joel Miller from The Last of Us Part 1 and 2. Despite being young, he delivers a stellar, matured voice in both the post-apocalyptic games.

And as for Indiana Jones, he is seemingly adopting the same voice that Harrison Ford uses to bring the fictional explorer to life. Given Baker’s prior experience, fans can relax knowing that things may turn out for the best.

Meanwhile, before Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases on the 9th of December, don’t forget to explore the entire movie franchise chronologically for a better experience.
