Part of the Opus Magnum side quest is to locate the Lightbringer’s Secret book. This book is found near Nikvard’s body in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The Opus Magnum side quest needs this book to be completed. Completion will reward you with reputation and a recipe for lead shot gunpowder.

You need to complete For Whom the Bells Toll, which is the fifth main story quest, to progress this side quest. After completing that mission, you will gain the option to talk to Scribe Erazim. Asking him about the location of Lightbringer’s Secret will provide the information needed to proceed with this quest.

Scribe Erazim will tell you that Nikvard is in possession of the book you seek. Furthermore, talk to him to get the location of the people who last saw Nikvard.

These locations get marked on your map. Therefore, it is highly advised that you get these locations from Erazim to make your life easier. There are three people you need to talk to.

First is the cook, Bertha. Wear the fanciest clothes you can find before proceeding with her dialogue. This is because you need to pass a Charisma skill check to get the information you need from her. She will tell you that Nikvard had a bad case of diarrhea. Due to this, he needed a bellyache potion.
Secondly, we have Regina, the personal maid for Lord van Bergow. She has a message from Nikvard. However, there’s a slight issue—she’s illiterate. So, you can read the message to find out what happened to Nikvard. Apparently, Nikvard dropped the book into the loo.
Lastly, talk to Hersh, the stable hand. You need to trade a longsword for information from Hersh. Any longsword will do the job, so just choose a random longsword to exchange. This will give you the final piece of the puzzle to locate Nikvard.
