The primary weapons that you will be using in KCD 2 are mostly one-handed, leaving your other hand open for a shield. Shields might not be the flashiest but Kingdom Come Deliverance 2′ Shields are important because they increase your defense significantly. They also protect you from ranged weapons, such as arrows and crossbows. While experienced players might neglect the shield, it is highly recommended for newcomers to the franchise.
Shield will make your normal block much more effective if you fail to do a perfect block. However, do not worry because it won’t decrease your offensive options. You will still be able to parry and counter even with a shield equipped. Since you won’t have a shield at the beginning of the game, this article will tell you about a few options to get a shield early in the game.
How To Get a Shield Early In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
You can get the strongest early-game shield for free if you know where to look. You will be able to find it in the graves southwest of Troskowitz. But do not be too hasty. In order to dig the grave, you will need to get a spade first. You can either buy it, or if you do not want to spend any money, steal it. You can go and look in the cemetery just east of Troskowitz for a free spade. But make sure that you don’t get caught while stealing it.
Now that you have the spade, go along the road that is going west and out of Troskowitz, and once you reach a shrine, take a left. Then you will need to go through some trees just to the side of the road until you reach a grave next to a large rock. Dig it up with the spade, and you will find the Von Bergow Knight Shield in it. Additionally, if you need some armor, you can loot the body to get the following:
- Crude Padded Coif
- Worn Gambeson
- Leather Gloves
- Flanged Mace
Most of the items mentioned above will be damaged, and you will need to repair them.
More Options To Get a Shield in the Early Game
If you do not want to dig a grave to get a shield, then you can go to the forest, which is in the southwest of Semine. Explore the forest, and you will stumble across a few corpses of Von Bergow soldiers. You will find a shield in one of the bodies there, but it will be badly damaged.
Additionally, if you want to get a shield the legal way and have the money for it, go and find the Carpenter in the Troskowitz region. You will be able to buy a shield from him without paying too much. And if you are interested, he also has bows and crossbows for ranged combat.
