Parrying in Wuchang Fallen Feathers involves both Deflect and Clash mechanics, and this article explains how you can do both of these easily.

Combat in Wuchang Fallen Feathers can be tough at times, especially against hyper-aggressive enemies like your Inner Demon. In such cases, one of the key combat mechanics that can greatly aid you is parrying. However, this mechanic itself is quite complicated and is exclusive to the weapon that you are using.

To parry in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, you must use the relevant Discipline (or skill) on your weapon. Not all weapons can parry, and some will modify it into a “clash” instead. This article explains how you can parry in Wuchang Fallen Feathers using the Deflect and Clash mechanics.

Ways to Parry in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

There are two distinct types of parry in Wuchang Fallen Feathers:

  • Deflect – Completely blocks an enemy’s attack and interrupts them. Can only be used on Long Swords.
  • Clash – Negates the damage from an incoming attack, but does not interrupt it. Can be used on all Dual Blades and One-Handed Sword.

Other than this basic difference, both Deflect and Clash have several other complexities that you need to keep in mind. Since you can use two weapons in the game, it is ideal to have a loadout where you can perform both parry methods depending on the enemy and the fight in Wuchang Fallen Feathers.

Deflect is similar to a conventional parry in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. However, you can only Deflect an opponent’s weapon. Any incoming attack like martial arts (punches and kicks) or spells cannot be deflected. Moreover, Deflect does not require any Skyborn Might stack, and you can use it at any time.

You can only Deflect using a Long Sword in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. You can unlock this Discipline for the weapon fairly early, and you need to equip it from any Shrine. Deflecting at the most opportune moment will negate all incoming damage from your opponent’s weapon. It also stuns them momentarily, and greatly adds to the Poise Break factor.

To deflect, simply press the relevant button on your input device. (L2 on PS5 and Alt+Right-Click on PC by default.)

Clash allows you to negate the damage from an incoming attack in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It is available to Dual Blades and One-Handed Sword only, but you need to activate the relevant Discipline on the Skill Tree for that weapon. Disciplines featuring Clash mechanics do not necessarily require Skyborn Might. However, Skyborn Might stacks greatly increase the potency of all Clash moves.

Once basic Clash is unlocked, several other skills for your weapons will also gradually incorporate the Clash mechanic. These are improvements that you will have to upgrade from the Skill Tree for that weapon, and they are important during the end-game phases.

Both Deflect and Clash use the same input methods — just press the relevant button on your device. By default, this is L2 on PS5 and Alt+Right Click on PC.
