Wuchang Fallen Feather is the latest Soulslike on the block, and it sticks to the established formula for the most part. One of the ways in which it resembles most other games in the genre is by the items it provides players throughout their playtime. Many of these items have special effects or enable advantageous buffs to base stats. And, every one of the items you receive during your time in the game proves to be invaluable somehow.

A prime example of this is the Ancient Chisel. You get this item pretty much at the start of your run, and it’s one of those items you can use in multiple ways. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can use the Ancient Chisel in Wuchang Fallen Feathers.

What Can You Do With the Ancient Chisel in Wuchang Fallen Feathers?

The Ancient Chisel is a way of teleporting or fast traveling without needing to visit a shrine. However, you can’t choose which of the shrines you want to fast travel to when using the Ancient Chisel. You can only teleport to the last shrine where you entered the dream. And doing so works differently than when you respawn at the shrine after death or simply fast travel from another shrine. Here’s what happens when you teleport using the Ancient Chisel:

  • You will lose all of your Mercury Points, and not just a portion of them that you do after dying and respawning at a shrine.
  • Unlike dying, using the Ancient Chisel to spawn at a shrine doesn’t cause an increase in Madness.
  • Every time you use the item to teleport, you will receive a random buff that lasts for three minutes.

There’s no limit to the number of times you can use the Ancient Chisel this way. However, every time you do, any active buffs from the last will reset. Similarly, if you die or enter the dream within the three minutes while the buffs are active, they will end.

What Buffs Do You Get From Ancient Chisel in Wuchang Fallen Feathers?

You don’t have any control over which buff the chisel will apply to your character. You might receive either an HP buff or a Stamina buff. You can spot which of the buffs are active when your character awakens at the teleported shrine. If she is engulfed in green particles, you received the Stamina buff. On the other hand, red particles signal the activation of the HP buff. Even though the buff remains active for three minutes, the actual timer is about a few seconds shorter since the time starts as soon as you spawn. The character animation of standing up takes a few seconds, which you’ll lose.

Both of the buffs are highly useful, especially when you’re about to take on a challenging boss. You could rely on the increased HP or Stamina to carry you through a portion of the fight. The major drawback is the loss of all collected Mercury Points. So, try to use the Ancient Chisel when your Mercury Point levels are low or nonexistent.
