Character creation is an integral part of the Soulslike experience, but does it carry over to Wuchang Fallen Feathers?
Souls and Soulslike games have seemingly taken over the gaming zeitgeist, and Wuchang Fallen Feathers is the latest looking to recreate the magic we felt playing Elden Ring. Wuchang Fallen Feathers takes a lot of cues from FromSoftware’s best. This is most apparent in the game’s level design, featuring several interconnected pathways and secrets. It is also reflected in the various weapon skills, which are Wuchang’s take on weapon arts from the Souls games.
What Wuchang does not take cues from, however, is the character creator. Wuchang Fallen Feathers does not have character creation, and you are instead only able to play as Wuchang herself. This is largely due to the game’s story, which dives into Wuchang’s past and her motivations. By having a pre-made and pre-written character, the developers are able to tell a more personal story.
While Wuchang Fallen Feathers does not have a character creator, it does offer plenty of armor sets and costumes for you to try on. This allows you to change how Wuchang looks, bringing in a semblance of customization that you would have gotten from a character creator.

You Can Change Costumes in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
As stated earlier, you can change costumes and equip different armor sets in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. The costumes are a pre-order bonus for the game and can also be acquired by purchasing the deluxe edition. If you fall into either of these two categories, you can acquire your special costumes by following the steps below:
- Load into a new game of Wuchang Fallen Feathers.
- Go straight from the starting area into the nearby temple, where you will meet the Taoist.
- Once you have talked to the Taoist, keep heading down, and you will find a Donation Box. This box will be highlighted and is difficult to miss.
- Interact with the box, and you can acquire your special costumes from the contents within. Once you have the costume, you can then equip it from the character menu.
