Spellcasters are incredibly powerful in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, but you must pick between Magic or Feathering for the perfect build.
Wuchang Fallen Feathers takes a lot of cues from the Soulsborne games, incorporating difficult bosses and nightmare-ish levels. While it does take a lot from other games, it also covers new ground with its highly intuitive spell system. Spells work in tandem with the game’s Skyborn Might system, which emphasizes aggressive plays and perfectly synergizes with the combat and enemy design.
As innovative as the spell system is, it can be a little confusing. When you go about inspecting spells, you’ll notice that some require Magic while others are tied to Feathering. What exactly are these stats, you may wonder, brushing them off as another one of the game’s complex mechanics.
Fortunately, there’s nothing too complicated about Magic and Feathering in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Both are spell-related stats that help you gain access to powerful spells. Think of them as the Str and Dex variants for spells (or Int/Faith from Soulsborne games).
They both give you access to a different set of spells, forcing you to focus on just one. If you’re confused about which to focus on, we recommend focusing on Feathering. We shall discuss this in detail below.

Focus on Feathering in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

As stated earlier, we recommend focusing on Feathering in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Both stats are incredibly powerful, and Magic is an absolute standout in the early game. Most of the spells you acquire early on scale better with Magic, making it the ideal stat to focus on.
However, as you move to the mid-to-late game, you gain access to incredibly powerful Feathering spells. Spells such as Echo of Lu Bingzhang, Echo of Honglan, Echo of Xuanyangzi, and more are powerful spells that can cut through enemies with ease. Not using these spells puts you at a disadvantage, so we highly recommend Feathering as the stat to focus on.
With that being said, if you feel like you’re missing out, you can still focus on Magic in the early chapters, before switching over to Feathering once you get the powerful Feathering spells. Respecing is free and easy, so switching over shouldn’t be a hassle.
