In the midst of the excitement around the game’s upcoming release on March 20, 2025, a few YouTube content creators have collaborated with Ubisoft to grant early access to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Video game commentator Tyler “Wildcat” Wine is one of these YouTubers. Apparently, Wine received backlash after he published his analysis of the game, and he later responded on X.

Wildcat thought that some of the reactions in his video’s comment section were not warranted while he was playing some of Shadows’ gameplay. The YouTuber said on X:

“The comments on my AC Shadows video today are embarrassing LMAO. I’ve never seen a more fragile group of f**king babies.”

User @Lzr1212 responded by pointing out that people who watch Wine’s videos have the right to voice their opinions in public, particularly about a game as contentious as Assassin’s Creed Shadows. He stated:

“You play a game that has a lot of controversy around it, you posted it to a public platform that allows people to comment and you’re annoyed by the comments? If you love the game and want to play it but don’t want the comments don’t do a PT just enjoy it yourself.”

Wildcat clapped back, standing firm and doubling down on his ideas regarding the vulnerability of “people”:

“The controversy is from braindead fragile people is my point. If you play 10 minutes of the game the characters are explained and make sense. The game clearly has a lot of effort put into it as well. People are just braindead.”

Wildcat Will “Cancel the Deal” if He Feels That a Game Is “Terrible”

Japanese officials have reacted negatively to Shadows’ depiction of vandalism in revered Shinto temples. Additionally, it has been criticized for being culturally insensitive. Furthermore, discussions of historical authenticity and representation have arisen as a result of the depiction of Yasuke, a Black samurai.

User @WILDYPwrz responded to Wildcat’s promotional piece for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows by accusing YouTubers of releasing sponsored gameplay videos without sustained interest in the games, arguing that they prioritize financial gain over real engagement. He stated:

“I feel like a good portion of what YouTube gaming has become is larger creators getting good chunks of money to play a game one time then never play it again. To me it just feels disingenuous.”

In response, Wildcat endorsed Ubisoft’s most recent game and promised his followers that, given his background as a “Let’s Play” YouTuber, he would never accept sponsorship for a game that he didn’t think was worth playing. He stated:

“I’ve been getting paid to play games for over a decade brother. It ain’t changing. I do owe a duty to my fans to not promote dogsh*t and I try my best not to. This AC game is solid and people are just crying about the characters or making assumptions. I have and will cancel a deal if I play the game and think it’s terrible.”
