This solo Necromancer subclassing build is designed for players who want a streamlined, one-bar setup that still delivers strong results. With a focus on heavy attacks and damage-over-time effects, it can handle most overland and dungeon content with ease. By combining core Necromancer abilities with the high-crit potential of the Nightblade’s Assassin line, the build reaches exceptional DPS and sustain. Its simplicity and efficiency make it accessible while it remains capable of soloing most of the game’s regular content, including dragons, world bosses, and dungeons.

Subclassing

This build uses the Grave Lord and Bone Tyrant skill lines from the Necromancer class and the Assassin skill line from Nightblade. Grave Lord skills provide consistent all-around damage, such as Grave Lord’s Sacrifice, which applies a DoT effect. This affects the lightning staff’s heavy attacks, which also count as damage over time. Subclassing with Nightblade allows the Necromancer to approach a 90% critical chance, making it one of the best classes for heavy attack builds.

Primary:

  • Grave Lord’s Sacrifice
  • Unnerving Boneyard
  • Wield Soul
  • Ruinous Scythe
  • Merciless Resolve
  • Glacial Colossus (Ultimate)

General skill usage order:

  • Potion > Grave Lord’s Sacrifice > Unnerving Boneyard > Wield Soul > Ruinous Scythe > Heavy Attack > Merciless Resolve

The Ruinous Scythe skill from Bone Tyrant applies off-balance to all enemies in a large area and provides healing. Affected enemies will take massive damage from heavy attacks and restore more Magicka. Use Merciless Resolve once it has 10 stacks to deal high single-target damage and burst heal.
