Onryo’s Howl is unlocked in the Ghost of Yotei The Old Inn mission. The technique unlocks when the second phase of the Saito Outlaws appears at the location to fight Atsu.

How To Onryo’s Howl In Ghost Of Yotei

Press L3 and R3 together to use Onryo’s Howl in Ghost of Yotei. You will need to get a kill streak of four enemies to fully charge the mechanic. If you take damage from any enemy, the kill streak resets to zero.

Onryo’s Howl Effects Explored

The Onryo’s Howl ability will terrify all nearby enemies for a short duration and force one enemy to flee and fall down. It will also earn Spirit. You can step ahead and kill the fallen enemy without taking any damage. You can then perform a couple of attacks on any of the terrified opponents.

When To Use Onryo’s Howl In Ghost Of Yotei (Tips And Tricks)

If you have the Onryo’s Howl fully charged, use the ability when you are surrounded by several enemies to gain an advantage, earn spirit from the first kill, and get a few moments where you can attack enemies without them blocking. In my experience, you may also be able to target which enemy flees by panning the camera at them before unleashing Onryo’s Howl. In such cases, target Brutes or enemy types that can create issues for combat.

Having a fully charged Onryo’s Howl can be a blessing when you are attacking an enemy outpost. You can fill the kill streak through stealth kills/assassinations at the enemy outpost and through Standoffs (although that will not give all four kills).
