If you have completed the Ghost of Yotei Prologue and explored your home for past and present events, head straight to the Old Inn (also known as Yotei’s Shadow Inn). You will be doing a lot of fighting in this mission as you wrestle control of the establishment from the Saito Outlaws. You will also unlock Onyro’s Howl during this segment. In this Deltias Gaming Ghost of Yotei walkthrough, we will discuss how to complete the Old Inn main mission.

Ghost Of Yotei: How To Unlock Old Inn Main Mission

You will have noticed the Old Inn when you were planning Atsu’s hunt through the spyglass in the Prologue. You then get access to the map at the beginning of Chapter 1. The Old Inn is to the north of Atsu’s home.

Once you reach the Old Inn, you will notice a note left at the gate by the Saito Outlaws addressed to the people of Ezo.

“The Shogun’s eye has begun to look north. Clan Matsumae serves his interests – not yours. Lord Saito has a place for all in his clan. Join us, and we will protect our home.”

Head straight towards the main building and press R2 at the gate. A cutscene begins showing the Saito Outlaws drinking and eating inside. Upon noticing Atsu, they throw her outside and a fight ensues.

Kill the Saito Outlaws

You can trigger a Standoff right at the beginning with L1. You are advised to do so to get an easy kill. Apart from one Brute, the rest of the enemies are using katana. Brute’s attacks are red-glints, meaning you need to dodge them. Take them down in any order you please, although I prefer to kill the others first and finally deal with the Brute. You can pick up a fallen weapon and throw it at the Brute to break his stride.

Archers appear after this. Hear for their calls to identify when you need to dodge (use left joystick for direction and press circle) to avoid getting hit by the arrows. Close the gap and kill the two archers. Four more enemies will appear, three melee and one ranged. Once you kill them, a short cutscene plays where more Saito Outlaws appear.

Kill The Second Round Of Saito Outlaws

You unlock the Onryo’s Howl in Ghost of Yotei at the start of this section. Press L3 and R3 together to engage it. The enemy straight ahead of you will get terrified and fall down trying to flee. Kill him with one attack. The rest will be terrified for a short duration, so do not waste time before attacking another enemy. Once you clear the first wave, another wave of Saito Outlaws appear at the Old Inn in Ghost of Yotei. If you managed to clear the first wave without taking damage, you should have another round of Onyro’s Howl ready. A third wave appears on horse with one archer and a couple of melee enemies. Defeating them all liberates the Old Inn in Ghost of Yotei.

The Old Inn

The Old Inn Settler provides information on the Yotei Six. You can choose who you want to learn more about, Kitsune or Oni. The information you learn gets added as clue cards that you can access in the in-game map. These leads need to be explored/investigated to kick-start the mission. The Settler allows Atsu to stay the night for free at the inn. This completes The Old Inn Ghost of Yotei walkthrough.

In the morning, you will find the following interactable points at the location:

• Ran the Bowyer (ground floor of the Inn): Atsu can buy the bow, Hankyu, for 300 coins and the longbow, Yumi, for 2000 coins. The merchant also provides ammo and resources. You can also sell your excess items to Ran.
• Kojiro the Bounty Broker (outside of the inn to the left): You can pick up bounty posters from the Bounty Board and tack them on the in-game map. Once you complete a bounty hunt, return to Kojiro to claim the rewards.
• Isaburo the Cartographer (opposite to the bounty board near the gate): You can buy traveller’s maps from Isaburo for 50 coins. They need to be placed at the perfect position on your map to reveal points of interest. The first meeting will also provide you with a side mission, Lost in Reflection.
