Best Crossbow Build in Throne and Liberty MMORPG

The beginner Crossbow build will explain skills, weapon mastery, off-hand combinations, and more. The Crossbow is the jack of all trades ranged weapon and has incredible mobility. Moreover, the Crossbow single-target damage is impressive and a great weapon for beginners. This is a weapon type to pick if you enjoy range damage, staffing, and keeping enemies at a distance. Nothing beats the mobility potential of the Crossbow, and we will explain how it works in Throne and Liberty.

This guide has been created based on early access to the NA/EU Server and playtesting in Korea and will be updated throughout the Throne and Liberty launch.

Everything About Beginner Crossbow Build in Throne and Liberty

Everything About Builds and Classes in Throne and Liberty

The Crossbow is a range weapon, and the build is centered on mobility, using defense and active skills to create space away from enemies. The Crossbow also has a powerful debuff called Mortal Mark. You weaken the target, and it soaks up damage, exploding at the end of the duration. This gives you a short burst window to rotate through powerful damage skills and melt a single target.

The downsides to the Crossbow are lack of area damage (AOE) and rotation-heavy gameplay. The AOE damage can be done with an off-hand weapon while your rotation is critical for success. However, the Crossbow is a great choice for any build as a main-hand or off-hand weapon because every beginner can enjoy the mobility and damage at range.

Best Alternatives For Crossbow

The best alternative to a Crossbow weapon in Throne and Liberty is the Longbow because it has more survivability and healing. The Longbow sacrifices mobility but has healing and durability that the Crossbow does not. Unlike the Crossbow, the Longbow wants to stay in place to do maximum damage via their passives. Therefore, you should select the Longbow for stationary off-healing range DPS.

How to get Crossbow in Throne and Liberty?

How to Get Crossbow Weapon in Throne and Liberty

The easiest way to get a Crossbow in Throne and Liberty is the Equipment Merchant in the main hub city after the tutorial. You can use a common crossbow and immediately unlock the skills by equipping it with your main hand. Additionally, you can craft the crossbow at Weapon Crafter throughout various cities in Throne and Liberty.

How to Play the Crossbow in Throne and Liberty

Crossbow Weapon in Throne and Liberty MMORPG

The Crossbow uses a debuff Mortal Mark and Mother Nature’s Protest to provide burst damage to a single target. Mortal Mark applies to a target, soaks up damage, and explodes at the end of the duration. Mother Nature’s Protest is a powerful damage skill that can be activated before your rotation to shoot additional shots while you cycle through other DPS skills. Using the two skills in conjunction, you try to have as many DPS skills in a short window to burst a target. Moreover, you can obtain a weak point shot, which can weaken and increase critical damage against a target for your entire party.

Nature’s Power passive skill increases damage after using mobility or movement skills. This is the premise of the Crossbow build: to always be on the move, activating these types of skills to boost your damage passively. Thus, it’s an active playstyle that rewards you with skill usage rather than heavy or light attacks. You can also restore mana via health so you can consistently use skills.

Best Weapon Combination Crossbow

The best off-hand weapon combination to combine with a Crossbow for a beginner is the Wand because the Wand has AOE damage, curse, and healing. Therefore, you gain high mobility and healing for yourself and your allies. While this won’t be the most damage possible, your survivability will be staggering.

Alternatives Weapon Combination

The best long range damage combination is Crossbow and Longbow. Passives from both skill lines synergize nicely, though the weapons are heavy single-target focused. If you enjoy melting targets at max range and having some decent survival, Crossbow + Longbow is your pick.

A dagger and Crossbow is a medium-range setup that incentivizes off-hand weapon activation. The Dagger and Crossbow both are versatile weapon choices with the Dagger’s passives giving a boost to critical. Therefore, if you like to use many Crossbow skills but want something to boost your damage passively, take the Dagger.

Best Stat Points

Beginner Stat Points for the Crossbow in Throne and Liberty

The best stat points for the beginner crossbow build are 30 Dexterity, 30 Perception, 10 Strength, and 10 Wisdom. Dexterity is your primary stat to increase first because it boosts evasion, critical chance, and overall damage. Your second stat to increase is Perception, which aids in accuracy and chance to hit so you don’t miss any shots. Raising your stat points to 30 rewards you with a passive bonus, and beyond that, you will reach diminishing returns. Level Progression

Level 1 Skills and Passives

Level 1 Skill Progression Crossbow Beginner Build Throne and Liberty

At level one, you unlock four skills from both weapons and three passives. Quick Fire is your filler skill that benefits when a target is weakened. Nimble Leap gives you mobility and increases your damage afterward via Nature’s Power passive. Mortal Mark is the bread-and-butter skill you want to apply before starting damage when multiple skills are off-cooldown. Lastly, recoil shot which is somewhat weak but can move you. At this stage, debuff with Mortal Mark, Quick Fire and Recoil as a filler.

For the Wand, you gain Touch of Despair, which is your curse debuff. This debuff is the way you do more damage to targets with Curse Explosion. You can stack curses with Touch of Desapir and Corrupted Magic Circle, then Curse Explosion for AOE damage. Lastly, Swift Healing is your self-heal and survivability tool.

Skill unlocks are slow, but as you get higher in level you can flex in and out better skills.

Level 15 Skills and Passives

Level 15 Skill Progression Crossbow Beginner Build Throne and Liberty

At level 15, you gain two more skills from each weapon. Multi-shot is a cone damage skill but also applies weaken. However, Multi-shot cost a ton of mana and should be used sparingly when you need AOE. Selfless Diffusion reduces cooldown and boosts off-hand weapon attack. You can activate this before going into curse rotation or when you need to refresh your cooldowns and get back Mortal Mark.

The Wand gains Cursed Nightmare and Clay’s Salvation. Cursed Nightmare is a crowd control skill and can put a target to sleep. This is helpful when you need to CC a high damage dealer but ensure not to hit it until the rest of the targets are cleared because it will wake up. Clay’s Salvation is a powerful healing spell that applies to both you and your allies. Use Swift Healing mainly, and only use Clay’s when you need a burst heal in a panic situation because of the mana cost.

Level 15 Active and Passives Skills for Best Throne and Liberty: Crossbow Beginner Build

Level 25 Skills and Passives

At level 25, you can start taking off weaker skills and experiment with your build. You should drop both Recoil Shot and Multi-Shot and add Mother Nature’s Protest and Mana Exchange. Mother Nature’s Protest is a way to add damage while attacking with other skills passively. During your rotation, you should debuff, activate and then Quick Fire for the most burst possible. Next, Mana Exchange is helpful when you are at max health but drained on mana because your skills are so costly. Use this while strafing and healing post-fight or when sustaining returns.

The Wand and Tome skills at this level aren’t more effective than our current selection. You can experiment with them, but the advanced skills start to lend towards a pure healer. However, we want a little healing with AOE and curse damage.

Skill Upgrade Progression

Crossbow Skill Upgrade Progression  Throne and Liberty

Skills come in different rarities and can be upgraded through growth stones. Upgrading skills increases their effectiveness and unlocks new perks and benefits like extra damage, more targets hit, etc. As you progress the skill from uncommon to rare to epic, the material required and cost increase. Therefore, players must select the most used and powerful skills to level first. This leveling skills system is RNG, and spending countless materials on a weak skill can be frustrating.

Active Skill Upgrade Progression

Quick Fire and Mortal Mark are the most important active skills for a beginner to upgrade. Quick Fire is your main skill for damage while Mortal Mark is the center of your rotation due to the debuff. If you’re using Wand in the off-hand, upgrade to Swift Healing because it can let you heal twice consecutively. Next, upgrade Nimble Leap for mobility and Touch of Despair for more curse debuffs.

Passive Skill Upgrade Progression

The most important passives to upgrade for a beginner Crossbow build are Nature’s Power and Ambidexterity. Nature’s Power boosts your damage after using a mobility or movement skill, which is core to your weapon choice. Ambidexterity helps to boost off-hand damage as well. Piercing Strike is another helpful passive boosting stamina regen that aids in multiple defensive skill uses.

Best Crossbow Skill Specialization

Crossbow Skill Specification Throne and Liberty

The best skill specializations for a beginner Crossbow build are Quick Fire Cooldown and Mortal Mark Chain Effect. Lowering your cooldown on Quick Fire gives you more uptime on a high DPS ability. Mortal Mark Chain can spread the debuff to multiple targets and help eliminate packs of enemies quickly. Also, consider Swift Healing Consecutive Use if using a Wand for up to three healing uses.

Below are the best skill specializations for a beginner Crossbow build in Throne and Liberty:

  1. Quick Fire Cooldown (Crossbow) – On a critical hit, the Cooldown decreases by 10%.
  2. Mortal Mark Chain Effects (Crossbow) – If the target with Mark is defeated, Mortal Mark gets transferred to every enemy within 5m of the target. The Mark transfers up to 2 times, and transferred Mark doesn’t accumulate damage.
  3. Nimble Leap Cooldown Resets (Crossbow) – Quick Fire cooldown resets when used.
  4. Selfless Diffusion Health Concentration Recovery (Crossbow) – Recovers 100% of damage received for the first 1s. For 1s, you can pass through other targets, and Mobility skill’s distance increases by 25%, Move Speed increases by 30%, Melee, Ranged and Magic Evasion increases by 300.
  5. Mother Nature’s Protest Gale Arrow (Crossbow) – Changes to Activate/Deactivate format. Can activate Gale Attribute.
  6. Touch of Despair Curse (Wand) – Grants 2 Touch of Despair with a 50% chance.
  7. Curse Explosion Additional Damage Boost (Wand) – Touch of Despair’s damage boosts by 10% per stack.
  8. Swift Healing Consecutive Use (Wand) – Consecutive use count increases to 3.

The Skill specialization system in Throne and Liberty is a way to customize your skills by giving them more effects and bonuses. At level 25, your Longbow beginner build will introduce you to skill specialization. You gain points until you reach level 50, with 100 skill specialization points to spend.

Crossbow Weapon Mastery

Crossbow Weapon Mastery Throne and Liberty
Wand Weapon Mastery - Throne and Liberty

Chain Fire is the best weapon mastery tree for a beginner Crossbow build because it buffs damage and reduces cooldown. You will be able to destroy enemies quicker and use skills more frequently in your combos, including the final bonus for attack speed. The Move tree is helpful for PvP and strafing to avoid enemies. Regen is helpful if you’re constantly running out of mana and not using Mana Exchange skill

For the Wand and Tome, level the Weaken mastery tree. You want more curse debuffs, duration, and damage. If you off-heal, you can change to a more specific dungeon PVE tree, but general beginner leveling, Weaken and debuff emphasis is the best.

The Weapon Mastery system is another progression system within Throne and Liberty, and it has three trees from which to select. You gain experience based on your main and off-hand selections and eventually can level all the skill lines with one character. However, ensure Greatsword is in your main hand to progress this system with the correct weapon and build.

Best Guardian

Throne and Liberty Guardian Lady Knight Kamarshea

Lady Knight Kamarshea is the best Guardian for a Crossbow beginner build because of the shield and cooldown reductions she provides. Guardians are 10-minute cooldown “ultimate” abilities that should be used during intense fights, bosses, or near death. She’s a powerful skill and can be unlocked after reaching level 25, and completing chapter 5.

An alternative to Lady Knight is Green Ranger Elowen, who binds targets and increases damage to them. This is helpful to keep enemies at range and burst them down.

Best Beginner Weapons, Armor, and Accessories

Equipment such as weapons, armor, and accessories can be found throughout Throne and Liberty questing or combat.  However, crafting specific equipment that grants bonuses to your build will be the most effective way to increase your power.  There are no light, medium, or heavy proficiency requirements, but specific equipment grants unique bonuses suited to a longbow or tome user, not a Greatsword wielder.

Therefore, it’s important that you craft the correct equipment early in Throne and Liberty.  Then, you can upgrade to higher quality throughout your playthrough and end at the max level of 50 with a properly balanced set of gear specifically designed for your beginner crossbow build.
