Metaphor ReFantazio allows players to journey through the fictional United Kingdom of Euchronia and take part in challenging battles while exploring a heartfelt storyline. Besides this, there are side quests and dungeons that hold valuable rewards that can help players during their playthroughs. For many, one of the best aspects of this new expansive and detailed JRPG experience is the customization in difficulty that the title offers.
In this article, we will break down all of the different difficulty settings in Metaphor ReFantazio so you can decide which difficulty you want for your journey through Euchronia.
What are the Difficulty Settings in Metaphor ReFantazio?
Metaphor ReFantazio features a total of five difficulty settings. You can alter most of these difficulty settings at any time during your playthrough, the polar opposite ends lock you into a definitive experience. Given below are all of the difficulty settings in the game and what they mean for your playthrough:
- Storyteller: For those who want to focus purely on the story. Battles pose no threat of death. You cannot change this difficulty.
- Easy: For those who want to breeze through battles. This difficulty can be changed.
- Normal: The standard difficulty, where battles will thrill and challenge. This difficulty can be changed.
- Hard: For players who want intense battles. This difficulty can be changed.
- Regicide: A high-risk, high-reward mode for only battle-hardened players. You cannot change this difficulty.
All of these difficulties will be available for players upon starting their playthrough, with the exception of the Regicide difficulty. The Storyteller and Regicide difficulty settings are the easiest and most difficult settings in the game. As such, you cannot change your difficulty if you choose either of these settings. Apart from these two, you can change your difficulty settings through the System Settings menu.
How to Unlock Regicide Difficulty in Metaphor ReFantazio
The Regicide difficulty is the only setting that will not be readily available. This means you have to unlock the ability to play at this difficulty. To do this, finish the game at least once. Additionally, get the true ending in the game and not one of three bad endings. Once you have done so, you will be able to play Metaphor ReFantazio on Gew Game Plus with the Regicide difficulty.
