Blue Prince features a wide variety of items and contraptions, each providing a unique effect that can significantly impact your gameplay. Mastering these tools can make your playthrough much easier and smoother. The Axe is one such item in Blue Prince. It is simply an overpowered item, allowing players to remove the Gem cost from rooms. However, many players tend to overlook the item because of its rarity. In this guide, we will explain how to get the Axe in Blue Prince and how to use it effectively.

How To Get the Axe in Blue Prince

You get the Axe by purchasing it from the Armory for 32 Coins. There is no other way to obtain this item. Although the Axe is costly, it is a worthy investment due to its game-changing effect. 

With that said, the Armory’s inventory is random and changes every run, so it may take you a few runs before you can purchase it. Furthermore, simply accessing the Armory, too, is a fair bit complicated. The room does not show up in your drafting pool by default. To reach the Armory, you need to complete the chess puzzle at the Underground Precipice and choose the power of Knight. This power provides the Mantle of the Knight effect, which adds the Armory to your draft pool.

How To Use the Axe in Blue Prince

You use the Axe to remove the Gem cost of a room forever. This makes visiting the room in subsequent runs much easier. Follow the steps below to use the Axe in Blue Prince:

• Open your Room Directory.
• Choose the room you want to eliminate the Gem cost from. 
• Click on the Axe icon in the lower-right corner to use it on the room. This will mark the Gem cost as ‘Axed’.  

Given its importance, the Axe has only limited use in your playthrough. So, make sure to choose wisely before using the Axe on a room. Prioritize rooms you draft often or the more valuable ones. Generally, Trophy Room, Throne Room, Vault, Attic, Passageway, Rotunda, and Cloister are some of the ideal choices.
