In this guide, we shall go over how to solve the Two Paintings Puzzle in Blue Prince, one of the harder puzzles in the game.
Blue Prince throws you into the Mt. Holly Estate with one premise: find the ever-elusive Room 46, and the estate is yours to inherit. Convinced that the task is easy, you set out to explore the mansion, only to learn that the rooms shift every day. As you explore every one of these rooms in a bid to find 46, you start to notice a strange recurrence — there are a pair of mysterious paintings in every room.
These two paintings are not for mere decoration and serve as one of the tougher puzzles to solve in Blue Prince. The game doesn’t outright spell out its solution and makes you work to even get a hint. This is a tough puzzle, and much harder if you don’t know where to look for hints. How To Solve the Two Paintings Puzzle in Blue Prince
You will find a blueprint of the mansion in the Study. The letter F is marked on it, exactly where the Entrance Hall goes. Next to this, “Face & Ace” is scribbled in small. Head to the Entrance Hall and study the paintings. The one on the left is a Face card, while the other is the Ace. Head to the Commissary to find paintings with notes reading “With” and “Without.”
Head to Alzara in the Rumpus Room, and he will mention a missing letter tied to the paintings. Therefore, “With” means with the letter, and “Without” means without the letter. Head back to the Entrance Hall and study the paintings. The paintings were FACE and ACE. FACE is the painting “with” F, while ACE is the painting without. You can try this in the Commissary, too. Here, we have the painting of a tent and a tag that reads 10. Their corresponding words are TENT and TEN. TENT is the painting “with” T, while TEN is without. Therefore, the letter for this painting is ‘T.’
Obtain the letters from all pairs and place them in their corresponding rooms on the grid to get a message that reads: IF WE COUNT SMALL GATES EIGHT DATES CRACK EIGHT SAFES. This message means that all safes you find are unlocked by entering a date.
