You need to complete an optional secret quest to unlock the Catalyst. Simply head to the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon and wait for the quest to appear after you have acquired the base exotic weapon. Keep in mind that the Catalyst mission won’t begin if you go to the Rite of the Nine version of this particular map. Regardless of how high the difficulty setting is, you only get the mission in other variants of the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon.

As part of the quest, you’ll need to locate three dead Ghost Piles on the dungeon map. Interact with each pile and you’ll receive a Vestige of Light for 90 seconds. You have to place the Vestige at the right statue within this time period. You will need to do this at all three of the piles located at various points. The table below lists where you can discover the dead piles.

Ghost Pile NumberLocation
1Go to the northeast portion of the map from where you spawned to find this one under some fallen bundles.
2Inside the Combat Room, just before you battle the mini-boss, Lightbearer.
3Go to the second platforming section at the cathedral to find this pile.

After completing the three Ghost Piles, three major-tier Hives will appear. However, you can identify the Lucent Acolyte, Thul-Ar, from its Hive symbol. Locate the Hive that has this particular symbol beside it to locate Thul-Ar. Killing the boss will reward you with the Navigator Catalyst.
