D2 Stasis Hunter PvE Build

Updated June 19, 2024Destiny 2The Final Shape and Update 8.0.0.1 has many crucial changes. The new expansion brings a new subclass, Salvation’s Edge raid, with new weapons and gear, a power level increase, new exotic gear, and – never seen before – exotic class items. Also, the new base game update includes many class and weapon balance changes that influenced the Destiny 2 builds and meta.

Why Should You Play Stasis Hunter in PVE?

PVE Stasis Hunter is the epitome of the best offense is a good defense. The object of the subclass is to slow, freeze, and eliminate your enemies before they even have a chance to make a move. Since this is paired with subclass healing and debuffs on the enemies, it’s hard not to enjoy the Stasis Hunter playstyle. Hunters have access to some of the highest damage supers with a lot of exotics that buff their damage even more. Find out all the details on how to craft, create, and optimize our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build.

Abilities

The best abilities for the Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build are Withering Blade, Coldsnap Grenades, and Silence and Squall. The Silence and Squall super is incredibly powerful with this build because slowly moves around the battlefield slowing and freezing any enemies caught in its cyclone. The Withering Blade melee bounces between enemies slowing and freezing them. Lastly, the Coldsnap Grenade chains from target to target instantly freeze them and spawn a stasis crystal due to our aspects.

Silence and Squall – Casting this super will give you two kamas to throw, wherever the second kamas hits a stasis tornado will form that will slow, freeze, and shatter enemies while tracking to them across the battlefield

Gambler’s Dodge – Activating this dodge while in close proximity to enemies will give you your melee ability back

Triple Jump – The most common jump for a PVE hunter due to its easy of use and strong control. It also allows hunters to generally go higher and further with their jumps

Coldsnap Grenade – This grenade will spawn a seeking ice wave that chains from target to target instantly freezing them

Withering Blade – We have two of these melees which bounce around slowing any enemies hit, hitting the same enemies with two in a short duration will freeze those enemies

The most important ability we are using in this build is our Withering Blade. Since we are using Assassin’s Cowl, any kills with our melees will heal and make us invisible. Our Coldsnap Grenade is designed to help clear trash enemies and freeze anything else that may be giving you issues. Often our grenade abilities can be swapped out depending on preference, however, Coldsnap grenades are hugely recommended with this build.

Aspects

The best aspects to use with our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build are Touch of Winter and Grim Harvest. Touch of Winter buffs all our stasis grenades and gives them extra utility. Also, Grim Harvest allows us to generate stasis shards when eliminating slowed or frozen combatants.

Touch of Winter – Buffs our stasis grenades, generate stasis crystals when used

Grim Harvest – Defeating a slowed or frozen target generates a stasis shard

Grim Harvest is essential with this build since our melees, grenades, and super will be constantly generating stasis shards for us to collect. With our fragment choices, these shards will provide us with extra melee energy, overshield, and track to our location. Also, Touch of Winter keeps our freezing loops going by instantly freezing any enemies it tracks. It can track multiple enemies, spawning a stasis crystal nearby allowing for easy trash enemy clearing.

Fragments

The best fragments for our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build are the Whisper of Shards, Whisper of Conduction, Whisper of Hunger, Whisper of Rime, and Whisper of Impetus. Since these provide us with an overshield, melee energy, grenade energy, and reload our weapons.

Whisper of Shards : When you destroy a stasis crystal we boost our grenade recharge rate.

Whisper of Conduction : Any shards we create will now track to our location

Whisper of Hunger : Gives us extra melee energy for every stasis shard we collect

Whisper of Rime : Any stasis shards we collect will give us an overshield

Whisper of Impetus : Any powered melee damage will reload all our weapons

Whisper of Hunger is one of the most important fragments for our build. Since melee kills with Assassin’s Cowl will give us invisibility and healing, we must get our melees back as fast as possible. Secondly, Whisper of Rime gives us an overshield for collecting stasis shards. Also, the Whisper of Conduction paired with the other fragments by letting nearby shards track to use making them easier to collect. Whisper of Shards gives us an additional grenade recharge rate after destroying a stasis crystal which plenty are generated by simply using our grenade. Lastly, Whisper of Impetus reloads all of our weapons every time we deal melee damage. Since our build is designed around melees, this will make sure all our weapons are reloaded when we need them. This can be swapped out for other fragments depending on player preference.

Weapons

The best weapons for our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build are Monte Carlo, Techeun Force, and The Hothead. Monte Carlo is the star of the show allowing us constant melee energy for dealing damage with the weapon. Also, final blows with the weapon can refund an entire melee charge keeping up our gameplay loop. Techeun Force is a burst damage fusion rifle for high single-target damage. Lastly, The Hothead is a fantastic weapon to pair with the build since it has amazing damage and can be used to burst down enemies that won’t die to our melees.

Here’s a list of the best weapon loadout for our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build:

  • Kinetic: Monte Carlo, Exotic Auto Rifle
  • Energy: Techeun Force, Adaptive Frame Fusion Rifle
  • Heavy: The Hothead, Adaptive Frame Rocket Launcher

Alternatively, you can run any legendary special weapon in the energy slot and any heavy weapon in the heavy slot. However, it’s best to focus on single-target burst damage weapons like fusion and rocket launchers to make sure we take our high-health targets fast.

Exotic Armor

D2 Assassin's Cowl Exotic Armro

The best exotic armor for the Stasis Hunter PVE build is the Assassin’s Cowl. Overall, this exotic provides two ways to gain health and invisibility. Firstly, the main way we are gaining the exotic benefits is through our melees. The Withering Blade has received multiple buffs since its release and has become quite the damage dealer in PVE. Also, we have two melee charges to give us the best chance to provide invisibility and healing. Secondly, we can gain exotic benefits by finishing enemies. These finishers will give longer invisibility and more healing but take time to complete so it’s best to use a mix of both melee kills and finishers.

Armor Stats

The best stats to focus on in our Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build are Mobility, Resilience, and Discipline. Since these provide us with survivability, reduce our class ability cooldown, and reduce our grenade cooldown.

  • Mobility: 100
  • Resilience: 80
  • Recovery: 20
  • Disciple: 70
  • Intellect: 30
  • Strength: 30

Gameplay Tips

This Assassin’s Cowl Stasis Hunter PVE Build is about using our melee, aspects, fragments, and exotic to make us near invincible. With multiple ways to generate healing and invisibility, we will constantly be topped up on health with crazy amounts of trash enemy clearing. All of our abilities help us generate stasis shards to give us melee energy, overshield, and armor charges. The Stasis Hunter kit provides us with multiple tools to slow, freeze, and destroy enemies without them getting to deal damage at all.

Finishers are incredibly important as well for extra healing and invisibility versus melee kills. For this reason, we run Proximity Ward which provides us with a massive overshield while finishing enemies. This gives us the best chance to get it off should we need to finish an enemy for survivability. The main goal of the build is that enemies are either eliminated or frozen and unable to move. However, should you get overwhelmed, a powered melee kill or finisher will get you out of danger and time to get back to safety.
