The Plasma Accelerator, much like the other weapons in Doom The Dark Ages, has various upgrades. It offers two upgrade options at both tier 2 and tier 3. At tier 2, you have to choose from two available upgrades, namely, Stabilizer and Modulator. Understanding which upgrade is better and provides more benefit is crucial, especially if you rely on the weapon greatly.

In this guide, we’ll explore these two upgrade options for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages.

What Is the Stabilizer Upgrade for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages?

The tier 1 upgrade for the weapon, Feedback, allows for a charge to build up as you keep firing the Accelerator at monsters. At full charge, it causes increased damage. The first tier 2 upgrade option, Stabilizer, helps to lower the spread when firing the weapon at its maximum charge. So, your shots are much more focused, ensuring you don’t miss hitting the enemy at full charge.

What Is the Modulator Upgrade for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages?

The second upgrade option in tier 2 is Modulator. This one will improve the rate of fire for the Plasma Accelerator when it’s at full charge. So, you can mow down a wave of demons quickly when you have this upgrade unlocked. In other words, the increased firing rate means more damage during the charged state of the weapon.

Which Upgrade Should You Choose?

This one is a pretty simple choice. You should pick the Modulator upgrade because it improves the firing rate, which results in more damage to enemies while the Accelerator is at its charged state. So, it makes the charged state even more devastating than it already is. Compared to this, simply reducing the spread of the charged shots won’t do much.
