Pre-Order March Update for Dune: Awakening
In an exciting announcement on the official Dune Steam Events page, it appears that pre-orders for Dune: Awakening will become available to purchase on Monday, March 24th, 2025.
There are likely be to more than one type of pre-order that players can choose from, and Funcom has not released all of the details yet. The base game price has been revealed as $49.99. However, this may change depending on what edition you buy or what region you play in.
Furthermore, the availability of pre-orders is likely to coincide with their upcoming gameplay livestream. This is scheduled for March 24th at 6 PM CET / 1 PM EST. And you can watch from the official Funcom Twitch channel or Steam.
Post-Launch March Update for Dune: Awakening
Another announcement by Dune: Awakening’s Creative Director Joel Bylos is that the game will launch on May 20, 2025, in a full release state on PC, not in early access. Furthermore, when pre-orders become available, you will have the option of buying an edition that gives you five days early access. Therefore, you could start playing the game on May 15th.
Bylos assured fans that this head start would not impact those who did not purchase the early access version of the game. The developers will add new ‘fresh start’ servers, so you will not have to compete with more advanced players.
Unfortunately, there is no further information on when the game will launch on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series.
Business Model Update for Dune: Awakening
Additionally, Joel Bylos talked about Funcom’s business model for Dune: Awakening, giving players a better idea of the kind of updates and costs to the game they might anticipate in the future.
The game will not have either a required subscription or an optional one. When you buy Dune: Awakening, you can play the entire base game without spending any more money if you wish.
Furthermore, the developers at Funcom will continue to expand the game with “new content, features, and enhancements.” The details of this have been left open-ended, but likely many quality-of-life features and fixes would be free to anyone who owns the base game. However, there will also be larger DLC content that will be released at a cost. These are optional, and you will not have to purchase them to continue playing the base game.
Additionally, Bylos also revealed that there will be an option to buy a ‘Season Pass’, which will give you access to several DLCs at a time. If you prefer, they will also have the option to buy the DLCs individually, as well.
