Cooking can be done at the campfire but has limited recipes and in every watch tower or big city at the cooking oven. Even if you’re a hardcore PVP Chad in Throne and Liberty, you will want to learn about cooking. You can make dishes that will help you in combat or will make your gold and item grind more efficient. In this ultimate cooking guide, I’ll tell you how the cooking system works in Throne and Liberty, how to level it up, what food buffs you can get, and some tips on how to become the most efficient cook in the game.
How to Cook in Throne and Liberty
You can cook food in the Throne and Liberty cooking oven. There is a massive list of ingredients and a variety of food with different buffs giving you heal, damage, and utility. Ingredients can be bought from Sundries Merchant and fishing is a great system to cook food that grants defensive food items. Also, you can get a good of EXP from every recipe you cook. We have some great recipes to cook rare food that help in EXP and benefit your character.
Where To Find Cooking Ovens
There is at least one Cooking Oven the city locations in Throne and Liberty, including the starting town of Kasleton, Vienta Village, and Stonegard Castle. You can find the specific location by checking the map and finding the oven icon.
Once you have located a Cooking Over, walk over to it and interact with it. This will open up the Cooking UI, where you will see the full list of all recipes you have available. Depending on your cooking level, some recipes will be locked. However, it will tell you the level you need to reach to unlock them.
How to Start Cooking in Throne and Liberty
Now that we know the different types of foods you can cook. To cook any food in the cooking oven you need the ingredients listed at the center of the screen in the cooking menu. For example, for the vegetable Stir-fry, you need some herba, vegetable oil, and salt. But how do you get these ingredients?
You can click on the ingredient at the center of the screen in the cooking menu while selecting that specific food. After that, click on the How to acquire option and it’s going to tell you where you can find that ingredient for that recipe. For example, for Honey Rye Cookie you can get the Golden Rye from the Violent Harvester in the Golden Rye Pastures. So, you can just go and farm for some of these ingredients.
You can visit the Sundries Merchant and buy the ingredients. Some of the ingredients for the defensive foods with fish in them can be obtained by interacting with the new fishing system in Throne and Liberty. You can even find some of the cooking ingredients by fishing in the deep body of water. Cooking recipes in the Throne and Liberty provide you buff and it requires fish as the ingredient and you can obtain Archboss weapon fragments through fishing. We have tips, rewards, and a detailed guide for fishing for you.
Another option for some of the ingredients is Amitoi Expeditions. You can go and farm salt from the different areas of Mega Lobster in Windhill Shores. The most efficient way is using your Amitoi and asking them to bring you some of the materials while you’re grinding, farming, or even sleeping.
Types of Food and Their Benefits
You need to find yourself a campfire or a cooking oven. Interact with it and a menu will appear on the screen. On the left side of the main, you can see all the different recipes available. At the beginning of the game, only a few recipes will be unlocked but as you level up then more and more recipes are going to become available.
All cooking foods are split into the following four categories.
- Attack
- Defense
- Miscellaneous
- Utility
You can stack two combat Buffs together from food and that could be attack or utility and utility or defense. You cannot stack attack and defense food together. You can also use miscellaneous foods as there are foods that help your grind deficiency.
Miscellaneous
We have a fishing Mastery bonus food, an EXP bonus food, Sollant bonus. The EXP bonus food is just useful for you when you’re trying to level up from 1 to 50 or from 50 to 55. There’s also a Cooking Mastery Food Bonus that helps you level up your cooking mastery. You can see your level from the top right side of the menu.
Attack
For attack, you have things like PVP hit, all hits, heal damage boost, bonus damage, and skill damage boost.
Defense
For defense, you have food like All Endurance All Evasion, All Endurance, heavy attack, and Evasion.
Utility
The utility is all about Max health, health recovery, health Regen, and Mana regen, or both if you combine them sometimes.
You can also craft the remedies in the cooking oven instead of the crafter. You need the Rare natural essence and Emeret Ore to craft the defense remedy. For attack, you need Rubix Ore or the natural essence, and then you can also craft purification remedies with the Abyssal Aggregate.
How to Level up Cooking
Now we know how to cook different dishes and how to get the ingredients but it’s worth knowing how you can level up to get into better recipes that come later and are initially locked behind the leveling system.
You can go through the different recipes that are available to you. Select any unlocked recipe and beneath the ingredients then you’re going to have a little prompt that tells you how much EXP bonus every recipe will give you. Look for dishes that don’t require too many rare ingredients and too many hard-to-get ingredients but at the same time, it gives a good amount of EXP.
Example for Leveling up Cooking
For example, Tranapple tart is a Miscellaneous type of recipe that gives you a 137x EXP per craft. You need to focus on the food that you’re going to need in the early game as you’re leveling up. I would recommend starting with the Rare Soft Steamed Bird Egg recipe. This recipe will provide you 50% more Sollant every time you go and grind an open dungeon. To cook the soft steamed bird egg recipe, you only need the following ingredients.
- 1x Milk
- 1x Salt
- 1x Lizard egg
- 1x Egg
- 1x Sandworm Egg
- 1x Terror Egg
You can also buy some eggs at the merchants but they are in limited amounts that you can purchase every day. If you’re diligent and stacking up your eggs every day then you’re going to have a lot of them in no time. Things like these are good to level up early in Throne and Liberty.
Once you have all the ingredients click on the cooking option and your recipe starts getting cooked in no time. You can increase the number of that recipe by simply increasing its cooking quantity. Check your inventory and you can see your soft steamed bird egg recipe. The recipes icon in the inventory that has the brown border can be sold at the auction house.
Optimize your Cooking through Merchants
As mentioned earlier, you can buy some of the ingredients from the Sundries Merchant. You can purchase food ingredients and milk unlimited daily but there is a daily limit of 10 eggs per day.
To unlock the high-tier recipes in cooking and grind them out you have to be efficient and disciplined, especially around fishing pretty regularly and also buying the ingredients from the merchant so that they’re available for you to make into the food that you want either for leveling or for combat.
In terms of efficiency, the developers removed the different cooldowns across the different regions in the vendors for the food ingredients. Just go to Sundries Merchant and buy 30x egg, 10, Golden Rye, and 5x honey. That’s all the cooldown ingredients that you need to buy every day. You still need to be diligent but you don’t have to go to all the different regions.
Benefits of Cooking in Throne and Liberty
Let’s reiterate the benefits of cooking. Pop up some food buffs from the inventory to see the perks. Choose the Max Health 300 food and it can be utility food. Once the cooldown is over you can also select one of the attack and defense foods to pop. Now if you check your buff, you’ll see that you’ll have one utility food running 29 minutes left and one defensive food running 29 minutes left as well.
Some of the foods like Quality Fish Pottage have All Endurance and Heavy Attack Evasion defenses. Go for a Rare Fish Steak that provides All Hit and Skill Damage Boost and pairing this with a utility food like Max health or health recovery and Mana recovery boosts your recovery pretty significantly. It’s like a regen food after you’ve died and want to get back to full health, and full mana then this is what you would be popping. This is a food that is good to level your cooking as well.
Cooking the food in Throne and Liberty will boost your movement speed and health, and will gain temporary boosts to the critical hit rate. The foods you cook will also enhance your item-grinding efficiency and Mastery. You will also have two combat food buffs running at once.
- Utility food- Running Max Health
- Attack food- Running Heavy Attack Chance
Improve your cooking skills and substitute some ingredients to enhance your quality of food.
