What are the Gloves of Heroism in BG3?

Baldur's Gate 3 Gloves of Heroism

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Gloves of Heroism are a really good early game item for characters in the Paladin class. The bonus on this item is specifically geared towards them. The Warding Hands effect means that any time you use your Channel Oath spells you gain Heroism. Heroism is normally a Level 1 Evocation spell, which can make yourself or a target immune to Frightened and gain 5 Temporary Hit Points each turn. Thus, this will give your Paladin not only an easily gained immunity to Frightened but also a boost to your HP, along with a +1 to Strength Saving Throws.

You can equip it to your character’s gloves slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. There are no requirements for this item. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character.

How to Get Gloves of Heroism in BG3? Explained

The best time to get the Gloves of Heroism is right after acquiring the Sword of Justice. The gloves are in the same location, though this time around you’ll have to solve a bit of a puzzle rather than defeat an enemy. After beating Anders and his crew go back to the main room where Anders was originally standing behind a desk. Back behind the entry door, around to the right, you’ll see a hatch hidden away in a back corner.

This hatch will take down a ladder into a basement. Off to the left/east you’ll find another large set of doors. There are going to be a few small rooms on the other side, and it’s best to let your Ranger or Rogue character take the lead here. The rooms are full of traps (gas vents) and it’s best to disarm as many as possible first.

The first room you enter in will have a lot of shelves and crates. It’s the second room, off to the north and through and iron gate that you’re really interested in. On the left/west side wall you’ll find two stone chairs. Keep your trap disarming character separate from the rest of the group and have one of those three party members sit in one of the chairs. They should make a remark about a pressure plate in the chair. Send another character over to sit in the other chair and the stone wall will slide down, revealing another room.

Keep those two characters in their seats and slowly move your trap-disarming character forward. There will be more traps in this space to take care of. You’ll find the Gloves of Heroism in a wooden crate along the back wall in this room.

How to Use the Gloves of Heroism in BG3?

The best way to use the Gloves of Heroism is by equipping them to a character of the Paladin class in Baldur’s Gate 3. This is because the second passive bonus on these gloves only applies to the Paladin class. The Warding Hands passive means that anytime a Paladin wearing these gloves uses a Channeled Oath spell, they gain the Heroism condition. While you have this condition, your character cannot be Frightened and you get 5 temporary hit points per turn.

However, if you don’t have any Paladins to give these gloves to, you could still equip them to a Fighter or Barbarian for a boost to Strength saving throws.
