The Ark games have always put survival front and center, and it is no different when it comes to Ark Survival Ascended’s latest map, Ark Ragnarok Ascended. Ark Ragnarok Ascended throws you into a brand-new Norse-inspired realm, making you relearn your survival tricks all over again.
Oil is one of the most important resources you scavenged for in the earlier maps, and it retains its stature here. Due to the new layout, as well as the several monsters patrolling the map, finding Oil isn’t as easy as it used to be. Oil is an important resource that bleeds into several other survival elements of the game, most notably cooking. It is also an important component for refining and smithing.

Where To Find Oil in Ark Ragnarok Ascended

As you go about exploring the map, you’ll stumble across several water bodies. Along the coast of some of these, you’ll find dead Basilosauruses. You can use a pickaxe to chop away at the corpses of these animals and obtain Oil. The quantity of Oil you obtain is quite minuscule, but if you need just a small amount, this is the safest way to get it.
If you’re looking for greater amounts of Oil, you need to make your way to the northwestern end of the map. Head to Latitude 31.7, Longitude 32.6, and you will find an entrance to a large ice cave.
Now, don’t go rushing into the cave just yet. There are half a dozen bears inside this cave, so you have to approach with caution. The bears can easily gang up on you if you’re not careful. Kill the bears and clear your path through the cave, and you’ll stumble upon Oil rock nodes near the cave walls. Mine away at these nodes to acquire large amounts of Oil.
