The dungeons and caverns of Baldur’s Gate 3 have their fair share of pesky traps that you need to watch out for and disarm before passing through. The most persistent among them are the Poison Cloud and Noxious Fumes traps, which create clouds of harmful gas over a large area. These do not seem to clear out over time and can’t be disarmed like conventional traps. This guide will help you quickly deal with these poisonous traps that you may encounter in locations like Hag’s Lair and Grymforge

Noxious Fumes traps create green clouds that deal 1d4 or 2d4 damage over time if your characters come into contact with them. Since they are usually present in groups and spread throughout the dungeon, tanking them and walking your party through is not a feasible option when you are expecting a fight ahead.

While Noxious Fumes themselves can be lit on fire, igniting them does not disperse the cloud. Instead, you need to block the vent that is leaking the fumes. The vent looks like a small fissure in the ground at the center of the cloud of Noxious Fumes. To block it, open your inventory and throw an unimportant object at it, like a bucket, plate, bottle, or clothes. The object will cover the vent and stop the Noxious Fumes from leaking out, getting rid of the cloud.

If you are not able to see the vent, ignite the Noxious Fumes cloud with a Fire Bolt cantrip to catch a glimpse of it. Alternatively, you can drink an Elixir of Poison Resistance and send a party member to disarm the vent directly, dispersing the cloud. Lastly, you can ungroup your party and avoid the Noxious Fumes with well-placed jumps. In the Hag’s Lair, you can use Feather Fall on the party and jump down to avoid most toxic clouds.

How To Remove Poison Cloud in Baldur’s Gate 3

Poison Clouds are far easier to deal with than Noxious Fumes. For starters, they do not deal constant damage; instead, they debuff your attack rolls and ability checks. Clearing them is also a much simpler task. Select a Sorcerer, Druid, or Wizard and use the Gust of Wind spell on the Poison Clouds to clear them. If they do not know the spell, you can check for a scroll of Gust of Wind.
