In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Ring of Absolute Force is a good ring for spellcasters that you can find in Act 1 – this short Guide explains everything you need to know about Ring of Absolute Force in BG3.
Ring of Absolute Force
In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Ring of Absolute Force is a great accessory option, especially for spellcasters. One of its bonuses grants a free cast of the Thunderwave spell per Short Rest. Thunderwave is a spell that releases a wave of thunderous force which pushes away all creatures and objects in an area, while also dealing Thunder damage. It’s an effective way to knockback an enemy – whether it’s over a nearby edge or just far enough away to give your spellcaster some room to maneuver. Additionally, the free cast is a great perk, especially in the early game when casters are short on spell slots.

How to Get Ring of Absolute Force in Baldur’s Gate 3
In order to get the Ring of Absolute Force you’ll need to first make your way to the Grymforge and find Sergeant Thrinn. After you arrive at the dock, you’ll be told about a cave-in. Someone called True Soul Nere is trapped behind some rubble that deep gnome slaves are being forced to dig through. With Nere temporarily indisposed, you’ll find Sergeant Thrinn in change, just outside of the rubble pile ordering around the slaves.
Find the Cave-In
From where the boat docks at the Abandoned Refuge just a little bit south you will find the Underdark-Grymforge waypoint. From there you want to make your way further south, where you will find the cave-in near the Underdark-Ancient Forge waypoint. You have a couple of different options here. Depending on how you are playing out the story you could choose to simply attack the Sergeant in order to get the Ring of Absolute Force as soon as possible.
The Sergeant will have allies within the Abandoned Refuge who will come to her aid, but it might be an easier fight than if you were to play along with the Druegar and promise to Free True Soul Nere. However, Nere himself drops a great pair of boots called the Disintegrating Night Walkers, so don’t just leave him in the rubble and forget about him, either!
Either way, for Sergeant Thrinn the end result will be the same. Whether you attack her before or after rescuing Nere (or simply not bothering with him at all), you will have to kill her in order to claim the Ring of Absolute Force.
