How to Get the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in BG3? Explained

You can get the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in two ways: casting the command drop weapon spell on Kith’rak Voss during Act 1 (X:-127 Y:561) or taking Raphael’s deal and talking with Kith’rak Voss in Act 3.

Here is how to get the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in BG3:

  1. Progress until you reach Act 1
  2. Head to the northwest corner of the Act 1 area to meet Githyanki warriors. (X:-127 Y:561)
  3. Seak in and stand on top of the bridge
  4. Cast Command drop Weapon on Voss
  5. Defeat the Githyanki
  6. Pick up and get the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane from the ground.

Step 1 – Find the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in Act 1

The confrontation with Githyanki warriors in Act 1 presents a challenge. To prepare for this encounter, we recommend reaching at least level 3, a milestone that can be quickly achieved in the early stages of Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, it’s essential to have a character with access to the Command spell, or you can purchase a Command scroll from any vendor. However, it’s crucial not to bring Lae’zel with you. Her presence may alert her fellow Githyanki and hinder your chances of obtaining the greatsword.

When ready, make your way to the northwest corner of the Act 1 map, located near the Waukeen’s Rest fast travel portal. The easiest route from the Emerald Grove is to head west towards the Blighted Village and then north across the stone bridge. Then follow the road to the west until you reach the area called Mountain Pass (X:-127 Y:561). Here, you will find Kith’rak Voss, who wields the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, as well as Githyanki warriors and a red dragon.

Step 2 – Fight with Githyanki

Sneak on top of the wooden bridge and identify a Githyanki named Kith’rak Voss. Cast the prepared Command – Drop Weapon spell on him. Please note that the chances of success are relatively low, around 12% in our experience. Be sure to save your game before attacking so that you can retry if necessary. If you are successful, Voss will drop his legendary Greatsword, mount his dragon, and instantly flay away, leaving the weapon behind for you to claim.

However, you still need to defeat the remaining Githyanki warriors, who won’t make it easy. Stay on top of the bridge to get high ground and the advantage against them. Also, if possible, try to buck up a little after your attack to be outside their range warriors reach. After the fight, you can loot the defeated enemies and collect your new legendary weapon, the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in BG3.

How to Use the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in BG3?

While this weapon’s damage is already greatly overpowered for Act 1, this greatsword inflicts an extra 1-6 Psychic damage when wielded by a Githyanki character. Furthermore, Githyanki warriors who brandish it gain access to the unique ‘Githborn Psionic Resistance.’ This trait gives them advantages on intelligence, wisdom, charisma saving throws, and immunity to psychic damage and charm effects. Also, the wielder has a chance to stun the enemies.

Therefore, this is a great weapon to give to Lae’zel, unless you are playing a Githyanki fighter as your custom origin character. Moreover, for any melee-focused character, the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is the best option during the game’s early stages. However, its power fades for races other than Githyanki in Act 3.
