In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Spectator Eyes is an accessory piece that any class or companion can use to gain access to two mid-level Necromancy spells. First, is the spell Ray of Fear, which is a Level 3 spell that can Frighten your target. This spell can be cast at any enemy within an 18-meter radius. Furthermore, your target will have to pass a Wisdom Spell Save to avoid being inflicted with the Condition. The Frightened Condition lasts for 2 turns, and the target cannot make any moves and have Disadvantage on Ability Checks and Attack Rolls.

Second, is the Wounding Ray spell, which shoots an eye ray beam that deals 2-16 Necrotic damage. This spell also has a range of 18 meters. Additionally, targets can pass a Constitution Spell Save. However, they will still take half of the damage from the beam.

How to Get The Spectator Eyes in BG3?

How to Get The Spectator Eyes in Baldur's Gate 3

To get the Spectator Eyes in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must reach the Underdark during Act 1, find the Selûnite Outpost, and then head west into the Petrified Battlefied to find and defeat the Spectator.

You can reach the Underdark in BG3 by using the Well in the Blighted Village to access the Whispering Depths. In those caves, make your way to where the Phase Spider Matriarch lurks. After defeating her, you use Feather Fall to jump safely into the glowing chasm. This will land you in the middle of the east side of the Underdark. From there you can head south to find the Selûnite Outpost. However, you will have to be careful of the security beam that is firing at the entrance.

Step 1- How to Reach the Selûnite Outpost

The best way to reach the Selûnite Outpost in BG3 is by using an entrance to the Underdark deep within the Defiled Temple. The Defiled Temple can be found inside the Shattered Sanctum. Meet with Priestess Gut inside and tell her you need to speak privately about the Absolute. She’ll bring you to her quarters where you can safely kill her without causing the other goblins to be hostile.

Then, use the door in her private quarters to enter the Defiled Temple. Within the Temple, you will have to deal with the orge Polma, before moving on to a room with a Moon puzzle in tiles on the floor

Step 2- Solve the Moon Tile Puzzle

The best way to solve the moon tile puzzle is to simply bypass it by pulling a hidden lever on the north side of the room by the stairs (X: 442, Y: 64). One of your party members will need to pass a Perception check before the lever will be available, however.

If that easier method fails, then you will need to turn the tiles in the correct order. Follow this guide to unlock the secret door to the Selûnite Outpost:

  1. North
  2. West
  3. East
  4. East
  5. South
  6. South
  7. South
  8. West
  9. West

Step 3- Find the Spectator in the Underdark

You can exit the Selûnite Outpost by going out a hole in the wall on the west side of the broken-down building. You’ll have to climb and/or jump down the ledges before you reach the Petrified Battlefield. You’ll know that you’ve arrived when you run into several statues of frightened adventurers.

The Spectator is a Level 5 enemy and should not be attempted if you and the party aren’t of the same level. Try to hide your other characters and only trigger the cut-scene with just one person because otherwise, everyone will be Surprised and lose a turn.

Furthermore, the Spectator will revive some of the statue Drow to fight on its side. If you only hit these enemies once, however, they will become allies. Drink Potions of Speed or cast the Haste spell to give your melee fighters additional hits each turn. When the Spectator falls, you can loot The Specator Eye from it.

How to Use The Spectator Eyes in BG3?

The best way to use The Spectator Eyes in BG3 is by equipping them to a spellcaster in your party. The theme of the item and damage type is deals fit best with a Necromancy Wizard build. However, any spellcaster with an empty necklace slot could make good use of these free spells.
