Dune Awakening lets you experience the hostilities of Arrakis firsthand, sending you out to complete quests where you have to deal with enemy soldiers, sandworms, the relentless heat, and so much more. Survival is the primary objective in Arrakis, and it can get exhausting during long sessions.
The game allows you to sit back and relax at your base. Dune Awakening has a base-building mechanic that empowers you to build your dream home in Arrakis. The base building mechanics are fairly lax, offering a change of pace to the hectic gameplay. Once the base is done, you can indulge in the crafting or come over for a reprieve from the constant heat and dangers in the sands.
Since Dune Awakening is a multiplayer game, you can also invite friends to your base. If you wish, you can also build a base together with your friend, but this is something the game locks behind a base permissions menu. Unless your friend has base permissions, they cannot build your base with you.

Dune Awakening grants you a Sub-Fief console to construct a base. This console acts as a claim of your ownership of land in Arrakis, allowing you to build freely in an area. Owning the Sub-Fief console means owning the land, and consequently, the base.
If you’re inviting a friend over to your base, you are the one who owns the console and the land. To build the base with your friend, you need to tweak the ownership in the console. Head to the Sub-Fief console and open its Management menu by pressing F. Cycle through the tabs and go to the Permissions tab. Here, you can make your friend a ‘Co-owner’ of the base, granting them base-building rights.
