Dune Awakening throws you into a bizarre world version of Arrakis. In this timeline, Lady Jessica followed instructions and gave birth to a daughter, meaning Paul Atreides was never born. The butterfly effect of this led to Duke Leto Atreides surviving his assassination, and now the Harkonnen and Atreides are at war.

Dune Awakening uses the Atreides/Harkonnen faction war as a backdrop to the disappearance of the Fremen. While this may seem like a bit of a bummer, the game still lets you pick a side in this faction war, letting you join the faction and help their efforts in the conflict. The game also throws in a betrayal mechanic, letting you politically navigate the conflict.

Joining factions in Dune Awakening offers opportunities for roleplaying, while also giving you access to powerful gear, intriguing contracts and quests, and so much more. If you’re looking to join a faction in Dune Awakening but don’t know how to, we’re here to help.

If you wish to side with a faction or house in Dune Awakening, you first need to prove your worth and show them what you bring to the table. In order to do so, follow the steps given below:

  • Head over to the Tradepost in the East Vermilius Gap region in the game. The Tradepost is a large building with big lights and is easy to spot.
  • Enter the Tradepost and you’ll find banners of the Harkonnen and Atreides houses. In front of these banners, you will also find an NPC.
  • Talk to the NPC, and they will offer house-aligned contracts that you can take on. Take these contracts to join the faction.

The more contracts you take on, the greater your reputation with the faction will be. This will help you unlock rewards for the faction, which are very well worth grinding for. You can betray a faction and join another, but doing so will lock you out of rejoining the faction you betrayed. So be careful before you stick the knife in the back of any faction.
