Discover how to kill the pesky Scrying Eye in Baldur’s Gate 3, constructs that can often become a nightmare to deal with when encountered.
Scrying Eyes are pesky little, always levitating constructs in Baldur’s Gate 3 that can quickly become a nightmare to dispatch unless you know how. These act as observers and have the ability to let out a scream and inform of its location to alert its allies. Furthermore, your party will have a hard time with the South Span Checkpoint’s Steel Watcher in Rivington if a Scrying Eye had previously observed any crime of yours against the Cult of the Absolute.
We discuss in detail below how to dispatch this creature before it can snitch to its allies of your comings and goings.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to kill Scrying Eye
Scrying Eye can be killed through spells that do Thunder damage or by throwing it into a chasm.
- Throwing into a chasm: Given this will trigger a Strength check, we recommend you to use a party member who has high Strength if your character doesn’t have a strength build. Karlach should do the trick. This will also instantly kill the Scrying Eye. While some in the community have noted that Shoving can work as long as the Scrying Eye is near a ledge, we have not been able to verify the claim.
- Thunder damage: Scrying Eye becomes a nightmare to deal with since it has a long list of resistances. Thankfully, Thunder is one element that it is vulnerable to. Shatter is the perfect choice here to instantly kill the construct. Other spells that can be used are Thunderwave and Thunderous Smite. You can also use a Chromatic Orb (Thunder) to tackle a Scrying Eye. A Tempest Domain cleric will also make the matter easier with the option to amplify Thunder damage.
Scrying Eye in-game details
Scrying Eye can be found at the Shattered Sanctum, Grymforge, Moonrise Towers, and other Cult of the Absolute outposts. It is resistant (both magical and non-magical) to Bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Acid, Radiant, and Necrotic while being Immune to Psychic and Poison. This makes it quite difficult to kill Scrying Eye in Baldur’s Gate 3. Thankfully, it is vulnerable to Thunder and takes double damage from it.
The in-game description for the construct states:
“These levitating eyes transmit all that they see to the one who created them.”
A Scrying Eye has two actions:
- Psychic Scream: It will let out a scream that will alert its allies.
- Psychic Resonance: It will quickly alert its allies of its exact locations when they are nearby.
These make it imperative for you to quickly or instantly finish off a Scrying Eye once you spot one. Furthermore, it can see invisible creatures that are within 30 feet of it and can see in the dark for up to 40 feet.
