The Silent Library Puzzle is found in the Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3. At the centre of a library is a pedestal that presents a riddle to you. To complete the Silent Library puzzle, you must solve the riddle: “What can silence the Nightsong?”

Where is the Silent Library?
You will find the Silent Library in the Gauntlet of Shar once you have solved the trials of the Gauntlet and acquired the four Umbral stones. You will spot the Gauntlet after reaching Act 2 of the game, located beneath the Thorm Mausoleum in the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
The Silent Library is located south of the Faith-Leap Trial and right underneath the Soft-Step Trial. It is hard to miss as it is gated by an illusory see-through door. Pass through this gate to enter the Silent Library.
The Silent Library Puzzle
The Dark Justiciars and the Librarian guard the library. The Librarian emits Silence, which prevents you from casting spells in the vicinity. Naturally, this makes the Librarian your primary target. Destroy this Umbral Terror to regain access to your spells and clear out the rest of the room.
Now, use a Perception check to reveal four buttons on the staircases on each side. Disarm these armed trap buttons first. Use a Sleight of Hand check to disarm the traps and press the buttons to open the gate ahead.
Pass through the gate towards the pedestal ahead. It will present you with the riddle: “What can silence the Nightsong?” You must find the appropriate book and place it on the pedestal at this point.
The book you need is “Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger.” To find this book, head back to the entrance of the library and go to the first set of shelves on the north-eastern corner. There are booby traps on these shelves. Use Sleight of Hand check to disable the traps and loot the shelf on the left to find the book.
Bring the book back to the pedestal on the other end and place it in the gap to complete the puzzle and proceed.
Rewards
Enter the passage to reap the rewards. You will find the Spear of the Night, the Dark Justiciar Helmet, and the Dark Justiciar Half-Plate in the room ahead. These items can prove useful in the rest of your trek through the Gauntlet of Shar.
