The Midnight Walk is a first-person horror adventure game developed by MoonHood and published by Fast Travel Games. It looks like this game is also the developers’ debut title. The game is set to release on May 8, 2025, for PC and PS5 platforms. Unfortunately, Midnight Walk will not be on Xbox Game Pass.

What sets this game apart from other titles is its unique stop-motion-esque animation style. It evokes the eerie charm of handcrafted claymation films. Coupled with the game’s nightmarish setting filled with grotesque, surreal environments and haunting character designs, this visual approach amplifies the unsettling atmosphere.

What Platforms Are the Midnight Walk Playable On?

According to the official trailer on MoonHood’s YouTube channel, The Midnight Walk will be available on the following Platforms:

  • PC via Steam
  • PC via Steam VR
  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation VR2

You can pre-order The Midnight Walk on PS5 for $39.99. As for Steam, at the time of writing, you can only add it to your wishlist.

Will The Midnight Walk Arrive on Xbox Game Pass in the Future?

Given the current platform exclusivity and the absence of any announcements regarding an Xbox release, it’s unlikely that The Midnight Walk will be available on Xbox Game Pass soon.

However, that doesn’t mean it will remain that way. Some games that were once exclusive to a platform, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man, were eventually released on other platforms over time. The same could potentially happen with The Midnight Walk. Interested players will need to keep an eye out for future updates.

The game’s storyline follows the Burnt One. The protagonist is accompanied by a lantern creature named Potboy as they navigate a dark and twisted world. Players will engage in puzzle-solving and stealth mechanics as they explore this handcrafted universe.

Based on the trailer, you can tell how the developers draw inspiration from the stop-motion films. The twitchy movements and animations look so uncanny that it adds to the creepy vibe, in a good way. It can get pretty intense during monster encounters. Yet, the game also knows when to let players breathe, offering moments of calm and reflection, like sitting beside a campfire in a dark but oddly peaceful area.
