The beauty of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is that it features various side quests apart from the regular missions. One such side quest is the Mouth of Hell Side Quest, which unlocks when you complete Main Quest 14: Speak of the Devil. Location of Mouth of Hell Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
The mission begins at Old Kutna in the Kuttenberg region. Upon reaching there, you’ll find the priest arguing with the villagers. Inquire about the matter, and he’ll tell you that something happened to the villagers’ cattle. The reason cited was that in a mine nearby, miners had dug so deep that they reached the gate of hell. The priest and the villagers want you to go down to the mine and look into the matter.
Objectives of Mouth of Hell Side Quest:
- Get your items back.
- Confront the mysterious knight.
- Get out of the mine.
Going into the Mine
Take the offering from the villagers and climb down to the mine. A cutscene will begin taking you directly to the mine. Along the alley, you’ll find a basket with Saviour Schnapps in a basket. Keep walking until you reach an intersection, where you can grab a torch from the barrel.
Continue further, and you’ll find a chest in a room. Adjacent to the chest, you’ll notice a lockpick and a sword. Use the lockpick to open the chest, take the contract out, and read it. The contract will tell you that the knight has been guarding the mine from demons, and someone should come and take his place.
Confronting the Knight
Climb up the stairs and follow the voice of the knight. Down the way, he’ll try to attack you. You have the following choices:
- Fight the knight directly.
- Knock him out.
- Tell him about the contract.
The knight possesses immense strength, so fighting him is not a good option, as you are in the mine without your inventory. But you can knock him out to steal his items. The best way is to read the contract, indicating that you are here to replace him.
Coming out of the Mine
If you have chosen to read the contract, the knight will lead you out of the mine and inform you about your items. However, you can also take the path to the left of the contract’s chest and climb the ladder to get out of the mine.
Solving the Feud
When you return from the mine with the knight, people will mistake him for a demon. Use the speech dialogue “This contract explains everything” to convince the villagers that the knight was in the mine to protect them. The knight will also be mad at the villagers for not providing the offerings in exchange for their protection.
Try to calm the knight down and ask him to forgive the villagers for their mistake. Once the villagers apologize to the knight, the feud will settle, and the villagers will thank you, ending your Mouth of Hell Side Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
