Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a game that focuses on realism in all aspects. Thus, it is no surprise that keeping a horse is more complicated than it seems at first glance. You cannot simply ride your horse around forever without taking care of it. And one of the aspects of taking care of your horse is cleaning it when it’s dirty.

Your horse can get covered in mud and blood over time. This has numerous detrimental effects beyond the visual. A dirty horse attracts the attention of NPCs. Additionally, the smell of you or your horse makes you easier to detect and can alert enemies. Finally, your horse can get slowed down if it is too dirty. Thus, to avoid all of these problems, you should clean your horse and its saddle whenever it is dirty.

To get your horse cleaned, you need to head to a horse handler. Although they are not as common as other traders, they can still be found in both regions of the game. Once you talk to the horse traders, select the Wash Horse option to clean your horse. The standard price for this is 200 Groschen, but it can be haggled down to some extent. This will also clean your horse’s saddle, harness, and bridle.

Keep in mind that the horse cleaning service takes an hour of in-game time. This time will simply be skipped, so if you have a time-sensitive mission to complete, you should avoid getting your horse cleaned for the time being. Also, if you have “found” (read: stolen) the items, you should wait for the theft icon to fade before going to get your horse cleaned to avoid any unnecessary questions.

If you do not have the money to get your horse cleaned, you also have the option to clean the saddle and other horse tack yourself. These items will have a brown icon next to them when they are dirty. To clean these, the first item you need is soap. The soap is not optional and can be purchased from merchants. After this, you will need to head to a laundry site where you can wash your clothes.

To clean the items, you will need to unequip anything on your horse and transfer it to your main inventory. After this, interact with the laundry site, select all the items you need to wash, and press confirm. This will let you clean all of the items.

That was everything you need to know about cleaning your horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
