This option allows you to see clearly in even the darkest areas. This can come in handy if you are exploring dark caves or swimming deep underwater. However, not everyone might be familiar with making potions in Minecraft. You will also need various resources to start brewing in the game which can take time and effort.

A Night Vision potion in Minecraft changes the light levels you see to maximum, allowing you to see through dark areas easily. However, this does not affect the spawn rate of mods. You need to still be on the lookout for enemy spawns nearby despite the area looking bright as day.
Night Vision Potion Recipe in Minecraft
To craft a Night Vision Potion in Minecraft, you first need the following materials:
- Nether Wart
- Water Bottle
- Golden Carrot
- Blaze Power (From Blaze Rods)
- Brewing Stand
- Redstone Dust (Optional)

Nether Wart
Nether Warts can be found in Nether Fortresses down in the Nether dimension. You must craft an Obsidian portal to access this dimension in the game. Once you are inside the Nether, explore and find a fortress. However, be careful when entering these structures as unique monsters like the Wither and Blaze can spawn in these areas. Make sure you are well-equipped to explore these areas.
Once you get Nether Warts, bring some Soul Sand with you into the overworld. You can plant them there so you won’t have to go back to search for more. They have a very slow growth rate but if you are patient enough, you will have an endless supply of Nether Warts.
It is recommended to bring a Fire-Resistance potion with you as this area is filled with lava and enemies that can deal fire damage.
Water Bottle
Water Bottles are fairly easy to make. You need 3x glass and use the crafting table to make an empty bottle. Afterward, right-click an empty bottle on a nearby water source and turn it into a Water Bottle.
This item has no effects alone. You can drink it but you won’t gain any sort of buff or debuff. However, it can be used in the Brewing Stand to craft various potions in the game.
Golden Carrot
You can craft Golen Carrots by surrounding a regular carrot with gold nuggets on the crafting table. This item can also be a good food source as it can restore 3 points of hunger compared to the regular version that can only fill 1.5 points. Aside from being a good food source, the Golden Carrot is used to craft potions like the Night Vision Potion in Minecraft.
Blaze Powder
If you are heading to a Nether Fortress, you also need to keep an eye out for Blaze spawners. Defeat Blaze to get Blaze Rods that you can craft into Blaze Powders. One rod can turn into 2 powders. This is used as fuel for your Brewing Stand. If you don’t have a brewing stand yet, these rods are also needed to craft one.
Brewing Stand
The Brewing Stand is where you can craft any potions in Minecraft. You can craft one by placing one rod at the upper center part of the crating table and placing three stones horizontally below the rod.
If you are in a village, nearby unemployed villagers might turn into Cleric once you place a Brewing Stand near them. If you don’t want this to happen, make sure you place it somewhere far or high enough that they can’t reach it.
Redstone Dust (Optional)
Adding a Redstone Dust after finishing your brewed potions can extend their durations. Considering how common these minerals are, you might as well extend the duration of your potions to make them last longer.
How To Craft Night Vision Potion in Minecraft?
Once you have the necessary materials to craft a Night Vision Potion in Minecraft, follow these steps:
- Place a Blaze Power in the fuel source of the Brewing Stand.
- Add your water bottles in the slots below the Brewing Stand. You can place up to three at a time.
- Place your Nether Wart on top of the water bottles.
- Wait for the water bottles to become awkward potions.
- Place your Golden Carrot in the slot where you place the Nether Warts.
- Wait again for the process to finish and you should have a regular Night Vision Potion.
- Modify your potions if you want by placing a Redstone Dust in the Nether Wart slot.
- Grab your newly brewed potions.
Once the process is complete, you should have your Night Vision Potion in Minecraft. If you used Redstone Dust, the duration should extend to 8 minutes from the regular 3 minutes.
