How To Complete the Misdirection Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To acquire this quest, you need to contribute items worth 300 Gold to the Thieves Guild via Ongar. Once you’ve done so, head to S’Krivva’s house and talk to her. Hieronymus Lex has invaded the Imperial City Waterfront and refuses to leave till Gray Fox is in custody. The guild needs you to meet Methredhel in the Imperial City and coordinate a response with her.
Head to the Imperial City Temple District and talk to any beggar to find Methredhel’s location. Go to Methredhel in Dynari Amnis’ house in the Talos Plaza District and talk to her. Her plan to stop Lex is to stage four high-profile thefts, with your target being the Hrormir’s Staff in the Arcane University.
Enter the Arcane University and use the invisibility spell to remain undetected. Use the portals to navigate your way to the Arch-Mage’s Quarters. Steal the staff from the desk and leave a note on the stand.
Return to Methredhel and she will order you to spy on Lex. Head to the Waterfront and find Lex roaming about. He will receive an official note asking him to abandon the siege. Pick the note up and return it to Methredhel. She will then ask you to return the stolen staff to a chest in Ontus Vanin’s house. Return the staff and report to S’Krivva to complete the quest.
