Learn how to complete The Hist quest for the Fighters Guild and destroy the Hist Tree in Oblivion Remastered.
‘The Hist’ is the final quest in the Fighters Guild storyline, which rewards you with the Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw and the title of Master of the Fighters Guild. The primary objective of the quest is to take down the nefarious Blackwood Company and destroy their Hist Tree. This Tree has become an infernal fusion of machine and nature, used by the Blackwood Company to harvest its mind-altering sap. Modryn Oreyn tasks you with destroying the tree and eliminating the Blackwood Company.
Hist Tree Location in Oblivion Remastered
The Hist Tree is located in the basement of the Blackwood Company building in Leyawiin. After activating the quest, head over to the Blackwood Company Hall in central Leyawiin. Ja’Fazir will confront you for being a Fighters Guild spy and launch an attack backed by three guards. After defeating them, take Jeetum-Ze’s Key from his body and open the room on the second floor. Once inside, kill Jeetum-Ze and find the key to Ri’Zakar’s room on his person.
Enter the Blackwood Company leader’s room on the third floor to face him in battle. He holds the Blackwood Co. Basement Key. Use the Blackwood Co. Basement Key on the door near the stairs on the first floor. Inside the basement sits the Hist Tree, with its attached contraptions whirring away and producing sap.
How To Destroy the Hist Tree in Oblivion Remastered
To destroy the tree, kill the two Argonian mages guarding it. Then, pick up the two Loose Pipes lying on the table on the south side of the room in front of the furnace. Approach the spinning gears on the sap pump and press the interact button. The pipe will be used, and the pump will fall apart and burn. Do the same for the other sap pump as well, and the Hist Tree is destroyed. As you exit the basement, Maglir will attack you in a rage. Defeat him and return to Modryn Oreyn.
Hist Tree Quest Reward
When you give him the good news, Modryn Oreyn is overjoyed and rewards you with the Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw. The Daedric artifact is a heavy helmet with a 7.5 AR, equivalent to a Daedric helmet. Its enchantments grant +10 to Agility and Endurance. For your bravery, Vilena Donton appoints you Master of the Fighters Guild, which allows you to set the guild’s focus and claim a monthly reward from the Guildmaster’s Chest.
