Tyranitar is one of the strongest Rock-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A, and you can make it even better with the best moveset and nature.
Being a pseudo-Legendary gives Tyranitar extremely high stats in Legends Z-A. This Rock/Dark type boasts extremely high Attack, with good defensive stats as well. Its low Speed stat is not as much of a drawback in Z-A’s new combat system.

Best Tyranitar Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Stone Edge is one of the best Rock-type moves you can use. It has a high base power and a higher chance to crit. These factors make it invaluable for Tyranitar combined with its high Attack stat and Same Type Attack Boost (STAB).
Crunch will also get STAB from Tyranitar’s Dark typing. On top of that, it will let you deal with Psychic and Ghost-type Pokemon. This will let you have two STAB moves in your arsenal.
Third up, we have Earthquake, which is one of the strongest Ground-type moves in the game. It can deal with various Steel-type Pokemon like Metagross as well. It also has a large area of effect, which is great in competitive matches.
Lastly, you can put a slew of moves here for coverage. Ice Punch will let you deal with Dragons and Grass Pokemon. Alternatively, you can consider Thunder Punch or Brick Break.
Best Tyranitar Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Tyranitar is a Physical attacker, with not much focus on Speed or Special Defense (compared to its other stats at least). So, you should use a Nature Mint to easily change its Nature into one of the following:
- Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
- Brave (+Atk/-Spe)
Both of these natures will let you increase your Attack, without much of a loss.
Tyranitar Stats and Location
You will need to catch a Larvitar and evolve it into Pupitar, which then evolves into Tyranitar. You can find Larvitar in Wild Zone 15 or on various rooftops. Tyranitar’s stats are as follows:
- HP: 100
- Attack: 134
- Defense: 110
- Special Attack: 95
- Special Defense: 100
- Speed: 61
You can also Mega Evolve Tyranitar after defeating the Rogue Mega Tyranitar:
- HP: 100
- Attack: 164
- Defense: 150
- Special Attack: 95
- Special Defense: 120
- Speed: 71
