Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar does not give players a pet right away. Instead, one must wait till Ramon shows up, and only then can they get a pet. Furthermore, you can also train your animal to enter a Pet Show, held during Summer 3. Indeed, even though you get access to a variety of creatures such as cows, chickens, sheep, etc, acquiring a dog and a cat will require you to reach the early days of summer.

How To Get a Pet in Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar
Players who want to participate in the Pet Show of Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar might get confused as to how to even own a pet in the first place. The game does not explain it too well; however, we will. An NPC named Ramon will show up during the early days of summer and will give you two options for your future pet: a cat and a dog. In addition to that, he will also give you the details regarding why a pet is important to your playthrough and how to handle one.
To make it simple, dogs help you herd big farm animals such as cows and sheep, while the cat does the same for small creatures, including chickens. At first, you can pick one of two pet options to help you with your work, but do not worry, because you can still get the other animal by visiting Ramon’s stall later. Of course, the cost of buying a pet from him entirely depends on what kind of animal you are trying to get.

How To Train a Pet in Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar
Similar to real life, treats are the best method to train your pet, whether it is a cat or a dog. To start this training season of yours, you can visit either Miguel Mercantile or Miguel’s stall at the bazaar and buy the treats. However, keep in mind that the latter is only available on Saturdays.
As an alternative method, you can also make your own treats with the help of a windmill. This is a more cost-effective way if you plan on training your pet daily. With that said, you will also need some ingredients such as Soybeans and fish. You can buy the former from the marketplace during the Summer or grow them yourself on your farm. As for the latter, you can either purchase a fish or catch one with a fishing rod.
After getting your treat fully prepared, simply equip it and then interact with your pet to train them. Once you perform this action, a training mini-game will begin. In it, you will have to input all the right buttons in the correct order to teach your pet various tricks, such as lying down, sitting, and more. Since the game allows only one training session per day, make sure that you do not make too many mistakes. Train your pet as often as possible, and you will be prepared for the Zephyr Town Pet Show in no time.
