How Does Darkness Even Work in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Darkness is a level 2 evocation spell that can be used by many classes in Baldur’s Gate 3. When you use the spell, it creates a cloud of darkness that lingers in an area as long as you maintain concentration. You can only concentrate on one spell at a time, and taking damage can break concentration. Darkness dissipates once you break concentration, which then leaves you in the open.
While a creature is enveloped by Darkness, they are heavily obscured, which means sneaking becomes much easier as long as you don’t get too close to other creatures. This while crouching can make you nigh undetectable.
Creatures within Darkness also suffer from Blindness. You gain an Advantage on attacks made on Blind creatures. Additionally, ranged attacks and spells are limited to 3m / 10ft while Blinded and also suffer from Disadvantage.
The last and most important feature is that you cannot make any ranged attacks while in and out of Darkness. Creatures outside the area of Darkness cannot shoot any creature inside the area of Darkness and vice versa. This essentially unlocks a whole new variety of playstyles utilizing this spell.
