It becomes extra difficult, if not impossible, to then optimize again for previous console generations. Moreover, it’s been almost five years since the PlayStation 5 was released. At this point, a vast majority of players have likely gotten the newer system.

Unfortunately, there has been no announcement about the official release date for Dune: Awakening on the PlayStation 5. For now, the developers at Funcom are focusing their efforts on the upcoming PC release. Furthermore, they have not commented or committed to any kind of time frame for releasing the game on consoles.
It likely depends a great deal on how smoothly the PC launch goes. If the game has bugs, lag, or other technical issues, then the developers will give those fixes priority. Once the game is running well on PC, then the team can dedicate more time to console parity. If things go well, you might expect Dune: Awakening to release on PS5 in late 2025.
Can You Transfer PC Progress to Console for Dune Awakening?
Cross-progression is another topic that the developers at Funcom are not officially promising at this time. However, they have clarified that they do want to support it, and hope to bring it to the game in the future. Additionally, it also depends on the companies behind the platforms and if they are willing to let Funcom add this functionality to their game.
If you are a PlayStation 5 player thinking about buying the game on PC first, this unfortunately doesn’t provide you with much of a guarantee. If you really want to play on the PS5 and don’t want to have to consider starting over, then it would be best to wait for the console launch.
